Raspberry direct connecting to the internet

Hello all,

I just set-up a flightradar24 hardware and got successful to submit the flight data to the flightradar server, it is a very interesting thing.

I want to increase the stability of the internet network, so, I want to change it onto a dedicated internet service. My setup is this : Ant - FlightAware receiver - Raspberry pi3 B+ - Home use router - Internet service provider ...

But I have the following question :
(1) Can I move all the things onto the new internet service without re-config the raspberry pi?
(2) Can the data be sent to flightradar without passing through a router (... Raspberry pi3 B+ - Internet service provider modem - Internet service provider...?
(3) If (2) is yes, how can I SSH to the raspberry?

Website navigation disappeas (Firefox)

Hi,

everytime I log in, I only see parts of the website's interface. Especially navigation disappears.

I already cleared cache and cookies, but nothing changes. I'm using Firefox 60.1.0esr (64-Bit).

Any idea how to fix this?

Can Not Open Web Config/Status Page

Hi everyone,

I start feeding data for FR24. I have one problem. I can see that my computer sending A/C data from cmd. But when i click for web config its not opening the page. just loading forever. I can see i am online on feeding data from FR24 webpage but luck at Status page. Btw i am using DVB stick for feeding.

Anyone had the same problem ? Any solutions ?

New FA stick and config parameters

Hello,

I have recently upgraded from a cheap dvbt stick to a FA orange stick plus a SMA filter. Since I'm seeing no improvement in reception I'm wondering if there is any parameter in the FR24 feeder browser settings that needs to be changed. Currently on dvbt stick (default) and I don't see any option regarding gain.

Map drawing errors suddenly started - Windows Phone 10

Hi. I signed up for a gold account on 8th July 2018 and since then have been using Flightradar24 without issue any issues on Windows 7/Windows 10 PCs and a Windows Phone 10.

About 3 weeks ago, I started to get an issue on the phone only in that when I start the web page the map fails to initialise. If I then select a bookmark, the map loads but then jumps to the right leaving a black vertical stripe on the LHS of the display. If I pan the map eastwards, it is OK and refreshes to fill the screen but if I pan westwards the stripe reappears and that part of the map does not refresh.

If I go into settings and reset to defaults, it starts working OK again but, 1) I cannot scroll the setting page and 2) if I alter any of the settings I can get to, the problem comes back again.

I have noticed that if I use the site while logged out everything, is OK. I have tried using an alternate browser on the Windows Phone - same problem. I have tried Edge, IE, Chrome and Firefox on the PCs. All OK.

I am unsure whether this issue is with the website now not working on Windows Phone 10 for some reason or if my profile and stored settings are somehow corrupted. Is there any way this can be fully reset to initial state to find out if it is that?

All other apps on the phone are working normally.

This issue is making the app almost unusable on my phone so any help would be appreciated.

Pi24 Fails on startup.

I just bought the Pi 3 B+ and followed the instructions to the T from flightradar24's webpage. I wrote the iso to the sd card and placed it in the Pi then plugged in the receiver, ethernet cable and micro usb power cable. The red light comes on for a second then goes off. The green light comes on then starts randomly flashing. The lights on the ethernet port fail to turn on and the light on the receiver fail to operate as well. At first I thought this was just a corrupted iso file so I reformatted the SD card (FAT32) and re-downloaded Pi24 and followed the same instructions with the same result. I then thought maybe the Pi is damaged somehow. I reformatted the SD card again and this time installed the raspberry pi software Raspbian and everything now seems to work so I know the Pi is fine and that it seems to be the Pi24 OS. I also tried plugging in the HDMI cable when I tried the Pi24 OS and not knowing if its suppose to show anything or not and I got a multi colored screen that was blank.

I am doing all of this thru my MAC. Any suggestions on why the Pi24 OS isnt working for me??

24-hour animation by airline

I'd like to make an animation of a 24-hour period of activity for a particular airline. I see that, by using the "Playback" feature and applying a filter by airline code, it's possible to display this kind of animation. My questions are:

  1. Is it possible to accelrate the animation to watch the entire 24-hours in less than a minute?
  2. Is it possible to export this to some sort of stand-alone video file?

i am fairly new to this hobby so i am looking to have a question answered...i use this software Flightradar24...i also have a scanner on which from my home location i can hear Cardiff CWL and Bristol BRS Airports along with inflight aircraft calling ..my question is.." How do i reconise the aircraft i see on my screen with the aircraft call sign i hear on my scanner" ?? plz..:

Basic setup working well - next steps?

Hi all,
I got my first Pi and dongle just over a month ago. Thanks to wise words from this forum and others - and some experimenting - I think I've got it working as well as I can expect.

I've got a few things in my local environment that I think are limiting what I can expect. I've got some ideas about next steps and I'd like to know what people think.

Local issues:
- Large building, a shopping centre (mall) within 75m
- Mobile phone mast within 50m
- Several airways nearby, and I'm midway between Heathrow and Luton so lots of aircraft at all heights.

I'm running with the dongle and antenna shown on the build your own page (jet vision dongle and small antenna). I've got a SAW filter fitted. (I bought a flightaware filter first then realised the passband was too wide for the UK.) Even with the filter quite a bit of signal is present at 960 MHz, note it's a unenclosed PCB. I've managed to set the gain to give noise around -40 and peak signal around -3. I suspect it's being limited by both the phone signal and by high levels from aircraft overhead. Perhaps the bit depth is a factor too, but I plan to start another thread for that discussion.

So, my thoughts. Do I:
- Get a separate LNA (allow the dongle to run at lower gain)
- Ditch the dongle and get a FlightAware Pro Stick Plus (as above, but neater and fewer connections)
- Build Co-ax colinear antenna (lower gain overhead the site)

I'm leaning towards that latter because it's more fun, but I suspect the new dongle would give the best improvement.

All thoughts welcome. Wow, that's a long post (sorry).

Performance limited by ADC bit depth?

Hi All,

I'm using an RTL-SDR dongle, so somewhere around 43dB of ADC dynamic range. I find that I rarely see aircraft more than 80 nautical miles away. Being located midway between Heathrow and Luton and under several airways, I have a large number of aircraft flying nearby.

Assuming I've got a setup that has aircraft 1 nm away at -3dBFS, is 100 nm range the absolute best I can reasonably expect? (100 being 40 dB more than 1 and 80 not being much different to 100 on a log scale).

If the receiver was somewhere different and so didn't have to cope with aircraft so close, could I tweak the gain up and see further as a result? For the purpose of the question I'm ignoring that this will raise the noise floor. I'm trying to understand if it's the ADC and nearby a/c which are limiting the receiver's range rather than something at RF.

I was thinking of building my own ADS-B receiver. I live in the continental US and I was wondering do you still get a free business subscription plan if you are sharing data in an area where someone else is already sharing? I have no idea if anyone is or isn't. Any help would be appreciated.

FA Stick Pro - MLAT not working with --gain -10

Hi people,
i'm using a Raspberry Pi 3, FA Stick Pro and FR24 image Setup.
When i'm using the "--gain -10" the MLAT feature is stopping to work. At the same time no Aircraft is tracked and uploaded. When i turn the Parameter back to any other value MLAT is starting to work againg.
Has anybody an idea what the Problem coud be? Is the gain value to high with this automatic Setting for the internal tuner? But why is MLAT stop working.
Until a few days i was using a well working (Raspberry, FR24 Setup, NooElec) Setup.

No planes on iPad

I just wondered if any could help please.

My works iPad packed up, so I got given a new one.

I’ve downloaded RD24 again, but it seems i can not download the data. I thought it may be restricted access has it’s a works iPad, but all my other apps work, i.e, instagram etc.

RD24 works on my phone, and other iPads, so it can’t be my new router. I’m just wondering if anything could be stopping it from working.

Also, when I put my email and password, I can not connect. Hopefully you can see this, in the second photo.

Airlines without ICAO/IATA codes

Is it possible to submit an “airline” to the database if the fleet operator does not have an ICAO or IATA code assigned? In the US there are many commercial air ambulance services that operate without a code. I was wondering if it was possible to organize some of these aircraft into fleets the same way other commercial airlines are in the FR24 database.
