because I will take that flight myself in a month, I recently followed SU1701 from VVO to SVO on flightradar24. I noticed the A330 sticking strictly to Russian airspace although the way through Chinese airspace during the first few hours of flight would be more direct.
Somehow I can't imagine that taxes for crossing Chinese airspace are so high that it's cheaper to burn more fuel... does anybody know?
