New software in FR24 box?

Has there been a recent update of the software in hosted FR24-boxes that reduces the amount of uploaded data?

Until February 12 our box uploaded 180 MB/day. Since then it only uploads 70 MB/day. There's been no change in number of positions reported.

Installing fr24feed on Linux using apt

Hi,

in the process of patching my Linux server due to the libgc vulnerability it seems I broke my FR feeder.

I had it installed from the recent *.deb package but for the re-install I would like to switch to apt.

I proceeded along the same method I used to deploy fr24feed on my RasPi, only difference being:

Code:

deb hxxx://repo.feed.flightradar24.com flightradar24 linux-stable
in my /etc/apt/sources.list (URL mangled due to me being not allowed to post links ;-)

Sadly this does not work (ap-get complains about not finding the package fr24feed)

Does anybody know how from where to install fr24feed using apt?

Thanks in advance

Singapore to be first in Asia Pacific to have space-based air-surveillance system

It will be established by 2018.
Singapore has taken trailblazing to the sky as it is poised to become the first air navigation service provider in the Asia Pacific to have space-based air-surveillance in 2018.
According to a media release by CAAS, the Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore (CAAS) and Aireon LLC have inked a deal to provide space-based Automatic Dependent Surveillance - Broadcast (ADS-B) data for the Singapore Flight Information Region (FIR).
Over the next couple of years, CAAS will establish necessary infrastructure to integrate the service with Air Traffic Control systems. When implemented, space-based ADS-B will provide continuous surveillance of ADS-B equipped aircraft in the Singapore FIR, adding to existing surveillance sensors and improved air traffic controllers’ situational awareness.
“The use of space-based ADS-B will keep Singapore at the forefront of emerging air traffic management technologies. By doing so, we can safely improve the efficiency and capacity of air navigation services for the areas under our responsibility," commented CAAS director-general Kevin Shum.

Hello. I dont know where exactly to post this so im posting it here. I just tracked this flight:

https://www.flightradar24.com/data/a...86561/#8df98f6

As far as i noticed it was a russian special flight. It disappeared suddenly near Baniyas refinery, Syria. I found this very very weird, russian special flight to disappear that suddenly on Syrian territory. As u can see plane status is still unknown, so he didnt land. What is ur opinion about this???

Hi, noticed there was a new release. Have been running 1.0.13-2_i386.deb for a while successfully.

Downloaded the new version and installed it with dpkg -i. The log file reads:

FEEDER CONNECTION GOES OFFLINE

What causes my connection to Flightradar24 Premium to go offline by itself after being online for hours? I leave my raspberry pi and ISP router on 24/7. The only way I can get back online is to turn my raspberry pi off and then turn it back on. Is there anyway to correct this or is it normal for it to do this?

Strange anomaly between data fed to server and web status

I'm new to FR24 feeding. I've installed raspbian OS and FR24 software on a RPi 2 which is transmitting data wifi to our router. According to the web server stats the feeding is working fine, its recording aircraft and positions. However, when I select the "show web status" from the widget on my MacBook the following is shown:

FR24 Link: Connected via TCP
FR24 Radar Code: T-EKAH15
Aircraft Tracked (ModeS & ADS-B): 0
Aircraft Uploaded: N/A
Receiver: dvbt, Connected
MLAT running: YES

where aircraft tracked is ZERO :(

And another item of concern is, in the feeder setting the "Log file location" is var/log/
When using the LS command I can see the following 2 FR24 flies in the directory.

fr24feed.log
fr24feed.log.1

Using command SUDO NANO I can read the content of both flies.
fr24feed.log is empty
fr24feed.log.1 contains the expected FR24 log history since start.

Nevertheless, when asking the widget on my MacBook to "show log file" the following is shown:

Last login: Mon Feb 22 13:59:11 on ttys000
Davids-MacBook-Pro:~ Homebase$ tail -f /var/log/fr24feed.log/fr24feed.log
tail: /var/log/fr24feed.log/fr24feed.log: No such file or directory
Davids-MacBook-Pro:~ Homebase$

Can anyone help?
Why can't I see number of "Aircraft Tracked (ModeS & ADS-B)" ?
Why do I receive message "No such file or directory"?
Is a complete uninstall and reinstall on my RPi warranted/necessary?
What can be done?

I look forward to your expert advice, thanks in adv. :)

A few question from a beginner.

Hi.

I'm about to buy a receiver and set it up with my Raspberry pi and join the community. But I have a few questions that I hope some could answer.

1. Is it even worth to try if I'm not able to set up the receiver outside? My plan was to have in a window.

2. How much uptime do I need to have to remain premium? Is it OK if my receiver goes down for a few days or so?

3. Is there a map where I can find receivers that are active?

Hi I have a question, here on the Flightradar24 side I have now a distance 112mi. But I also feed to flightaware - distance of 5-6 Views 150-200 mi. Why the difference? Can anyone explain to me?

stats here: de.flightaware.com/adsb/stats/user/antonov124
flightradar24 stats:
Uptime (as % of available time): 100%
Aircraft seen: 823
Positions reported: 33,421
Maximum distance: 112nm

Here my dump1090 max range: 262,km -> 141nm

FR24 Link: Connected via UDP
FR24 Radar Code: T-EDDC51
Aircraft Tracked (ModeS & ADS-B): 35
Aircraft Uploaded: 20
Receiver: avr-tcp, Connected
MLAT running: YES

What is the Maximum Range I can Get?

$
0
0
INTRODUCTION
The Maximum Range achievable at any location depends on
(1) Curvature of earth
(2) The terrain around that location. Terrain plays a very important role as hills & changes in ground level will restrict maximum range.

This is due to the fact that propagation of radio waves in GHz/Microwave range is line of sight. The range is therefore limited by curvature of earth, and is about 250 nautical miles / 450 km for an ideal condition of perfectly level terrain. Hills & rise in ground levels further restrict maximum range to less than 250 nautical miles / 450 km.

FIND YOUR MAXIMUM POSSIBLE RANGE
In order to determine what maximum possible range you can get at your location, follow the steps below:
(1) Visit the site http://www.heywhatsthat.com
(2) Select tab "new panorama"
(3) Enter your latitude and longitude
(4) Enter your elevation (=enter elevation of your antenna)
(5) Enter title
(6) Hit "submit request" button
(7) Wait and view sponsor's advertisement while panorama is generated
(8) When panorama is generated, scroll down to map, and click "up in the air" tab on top right of map.
(9) Zoom-out the map till you see two circular curves in blue & yellow colors, showing maximum distance of aircrafts at 10,000 feet & 30,000 feet elevation.
(10) Below the map you will see text boxes light yellow & light blue with default aircraft heights 10,000 feet & 30,000 feet. Change these to suite your requirements, and press "Enter" button. The two curves will modify to new height figures you have entered.

The layers of air cause refraction of radio waves, and radio line of sight may extend beyond optical line of sight by as much as 50 to 100 nautical miles. Your maximum possible range will therefore be about 50 to 100 nautical miles more than the maximum possible range shown by the curves you got from heywhatsthat.com site.

To achieve your maximum possible range, your antenna should be installed at a height where it is above trees & houses surrounding it, and can "see" the horizon.

I'm using Flightradar on my iMac OSX10.9.5.
Since some months, 3D Cockpitvew is not available. The information to visit blog brings no info, until when this option would be available again.
GoogleEarth 7.1.5 1557 is installed on my iMac.
Can anybody say, when 3D Cockpitvew will work again.

Thanks for your answers.
