Adding GPS receiver to the radar

$

Hello hobbists and professionals!

I've got a Raspberry pi3 happily :) feeding from Rome (Italy).

Found an old GPS receiver in my technological scrap yard.
I want to use it to get more precise MLAT calculations.
All I need to do is to connect it and restart fr24feed?

Thank you very much,
Francesco

Flight Radar 24 & flightaware

I built a Pi using the flightaware load for the pi. It works fine. I'd like to add flight radar 24 to the pi. Is it possible to have both running on one pi? If so does anyone know what the steps would be to add flight radar to it? Im not a very good programmer.

Thank for the help.

Intermittent uptime with strange pattern

I am having an UPTIME issue, which I could not immediately find back on the forum.
My apologies in case I overlooked it, I am new to the FR24 forum.

Last week, I bought a PiAware Aircraft Tracking Kit, with PiAware v3.6.2 pre-installed.
First, I made sure to get this kit in operation succesfully.
After some initial start-up issues, I am now providing a constant data feed to FlightAware since last Fri (25 Oct).

Next, on Sat (26 Oct) I continued with the process to feed data to FR24, so I logged in on my Raspberry Pi and executed the ssh command as instructed on the FR24 website
This resulted in obtaining a radar number (T-EHVK79) and sharing key from FR24 and my radar statistics page on FR24 website show that I am online.
However, for whatever reason the statistics page shows a strange pattern: approx. 15 hrs of UPTIME, followed by approx. 24 hrs of mainly DOWNTIME, with only a couple of minutes UPTIME every half hour or so during this DOWNTIME period (see screenshot). Then, 15 hrs of UPTIME again, etc ...

Any ideas what might be causing this strange pattern and, more importantly, how this can be fixed into 100% uptime?

Thanks,
Squawk1973

Feedback on my new aviation project!

Hi everyone!

Im new to this forum, but with the intensions to stay for a long time.

I just want to share my last project. The idea is a platform that brings together all the latest and best high quality live streams/webcams from all over the world.

Right now, I just want to check the interest of such a page. Of course, I know that you get the same content on Youtube or other pages, but maybe presented in a new nice way. The idea is, of course, to continue working with the site.

Lower your expectations at the moment, but in the future maybe it might be a good place for us aviations geeks to hang out :)

I am very grateful for serious feedback and new ideas.

Sudden drop in track seen and message rate

I have noted when ever I replace the antenna and restart my Pi 3 B+ get quite good message rates / track seens but it drops after 5 minutes.
Today I received my FA antenna with Pro Stick Plus dongle and installed it around 17:55 as you see in the picture track seen 800+ dropped to under 400 just in 5 minutes.

What could be the reason for this?
Where should i start the troubleshooting?

Radar info on an LCD!

Dear hobbists and professionals,

Here are two pictures of my small FR24 LCD project!
I feed with a Raspberry Pi 3 and Nooelec dongle.

Image00001.jpg Image00002.jpg

This OpenWRT-based pico-computer connects to the actual radar (in the same subnet) and shows:

- radar name
- feed connected?
- messages total
- mess. per second
- mlat ok?
- system uptime
- cpu temperature
- "bad" ads-b mess. percentage
- tracked A/C number
- lower RSSI
- the flight name that is overflying your reported radar site!

Is anyone interested in setting this up?
I'd gladly post the "recipe" even though I cannot guarantee the setup portability in any way!
Cheers,
Cauchee

Newbie here, again. Everything was running smoothly with my raspberry pi connected by Ethernet. Data was being fed with no problems.
Decided to set up a wi-fi connection. Now I am offline on Flightradar24. I confirmed the raspberry is connected to the router.
When I run a status, this is what I get:

pi@raspberrypi:~ $ fr24feed-status
[ ok ] FR24 Feeder/Decoder Process: running.
[ ok ] FR24 Stats Timestamp:.
[FAIL] FR24 Link: unknown ... failed!
[FAIL] Receiver: down ... failed!
[FAIL] FR24 MLAT: not running ... failed!

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Understanding signal strength calculation

I use FA antenna/blue USB dongle on a Pi 3 B+ with ADSBReceiver image, I see a pattern where signal drops from 0 to -30 and it is always around midnight CEST.

I was wondering how signal strength is measured here? Does this has to do with low traffic during that time?

Debain Stretch (x64) Install

I run a Debian Stretch (amd64) server 24/7 to which I'd like to add a DVB-T stick and start contributing data.

On the download page the only Debian-specific download is i386 so I assume I should download the distro agnostic amd64.tgz file instead and install that? I'd prefer .deb but comfortable either way.

Also I've searched ebay (UK) for some suitable USB sticks and found one called a "AUZEUNER TV Digital DVB-T Receiver USB2.0 RTL2832U+R820T Stick SDR+DAB+FM Tuner" I assume this will do the trick? As this is my first post to the forum, I can't post links.

Thanks in advance

This happens once a week, there are only 7 aircraft seen so thats not an issue, and its been ongoing since slightly after 0400 local - when curfew is active so at best it might have seen 1 a/c if any. sometimes it kills off dump1090

there are no crons anywhere near that time, and i dont log since that too created problems when it tries to roll the 2g file, it never seemed to rotate every day or 2 days.

yes, apt is up to date.

How to feed from another computer connected to other network?

$

I have already configured to feed information from my ADS-B (provided by Flightaware) to Flightradar24, but I found out that I must have a 24/7 connection to the Internet so that the information is shared, and I have the following qusetions:

1. Is there any way that information can be shared from the ADS-B without having to be connected to the internet 24/7 from the computer with the application open?
2. Does the computer with the Flightradar application always have to be in the same network that the ADS-B?

3. Can I set up the laptop of my office in my house to configure the ADS-B and transmit information from the network of my place of work?

I want to keep sharing information from my ADS-B but I could only use it at night when I have the computer available in my house connected to the same ADS-B network

Hello, I am new to feeding data. I have setup My raspberry pi with my ADS-B reciever i picked up off of amazon. (Would post the link but this is my first post). I am currently having 2 problems:

1. When i goto 192.168.0.10:8754 website, it says 0 aircraft tracked. I am not sure which to use, the DVBT setting or micro ADSb setting. Currently I am using microADSb.

2. When I try to activate my pi on the flightradar website, it says no devices found.

Unusual flight - Montreal, Canada

I recently saw two unusual flights -
ROU2388, 7 November 2018, departed YUL at 18h15, flew north approx 190 nm, turned south to YMX, did two touch-and-go, landed, took off, flew to nearby YUL, landed, took off, looped back, landed, went straight to hanger (YUL).
RV2388, 3 November 2018, departed YUL, flew north approx 230 (?) nm, turned south, flew to YUL and landed.
Both cases, same aircraft, C-GEOQ, Air Canada Rouge, 767-375(ER) - regularly flies commercial routes.

I am curious as to the purpose of such flights.
