Några frågor

Hej!

What determines flight paths?

What more basic question could one have for one's first question to the forum?

I live about 10 miles northwest (inland) of Logan Airport (Boston). About three days ago - and at other times - planes were flying over here pretty regularly on their ascent. Since then, not a single one has gone over. Typically, planes going out of Boston fly onto the ocean and then loop around in whatever direction they are going. Sometimes, the path seems illogical - planes coming from the south overshoot the city and then loop back around clockwise from the ocean.

Generally speaking, how are these paths determined? Does it have to do with certain towns not wanting planes flying low over them, or is it determined by the wind currents? Around here, it seems that the towns over which planes fly low are relatively blue-collar ones, but maybe that's a coincidence.

John

Hope no-one minds this here? If you have any unknown ICAO 24 "hex" codes, post them here and hopefully someone else will be able to tie them up! :) Where possible, please try to include the date you picked it up on.

First up from me is a Russian hex code, currently appearing on FR24 MLAT with no other data at FL280!

Getting to the Arrival City or Departed City

Hey:

Just an observation, i am using windows 8 on my desktop and have Flightradar24 premium up and running in google chrome, and i am logged in. When u click on an aircraft and the box comes up on the left of the screen giving all the info on that flight, not sure if i am missing something, but i thought when u could click on either city where the plane left and where its going it would take you to that citys airport and you could click on all the flights incoming and outgoing after you click on the blue and white dot indicating the city your looking into. Its not doing that recently in flightradar 24. Just curious.

The letters in front of the ICAO-code

A question about these 3 letters F, N and T.
All radars on FR24 have 1 of these 3 letters in front of the ICAO code for the respective airports.
Examples:F-EDDF, N-EHAM and T-MLAT. What is the purpose of these letters? Or what do they indicate?
I ask purely out of curiousety

Is the correct desgnation for this aircraft CL-600-2B19 or is it CRJ100, or CRJ200, or both? How would you identify the difference in the field, as everything I can find shows the designation of CL-600-2B19 used for BOTH aircraft.....

Hi,
I have premium account to login fr24 and everytime I open flightradar24.com due to my IP address it shows Istanbul Airport and everytime I have to scroll to Ankara Esenboga. Premium settings saves our options like icon size, show all airports and aircraft spec. I think the cookie or our login information must be saved somewhere and everytime we open the page our last position must come. Is there a possibility for this
Thanx

For the past week (or so) I've not been able to view aircraft correctly using Firefox 23, FlightRadar works fine using IE10.

On the left panel where it says 'Map' I get a warning which states "You are either watching an area without coverage, or have set too strict filter"

At this point there are no aircraft visible on the map.

If I keep on refreshing the screen and I eventually do get aircraft to appear once I click on any aircraft the screen freezes and the left panel goes blank with a message stating "Sorry, data could not be loaded. Please try again later."

I am using Windows 7 and have a very fast cable connection here in the UK.

FlightRadar was working just fine on Firefox up until a week (or so) ago and I've made no changes to the application in the mean time. It's like one day it works and the next, nothing!

I've done the usual such as clearing the cache and the cookies in Firefox but to no avail.

Have you any idea what might be wrong and what I can do to correct the situation?

MADRS22 making circles above North Sea

Hello people,

I am very new to this forum and started a new hobby 'watching Flightradar24' last week :-)

Because I am very new I need to find out all things (on my own).

Can somebody explain me why this plane MADRS22 is making circles above the North Sea?

It's a plane of The Royal Airforce (UK) with registration ZZ331 and it doesn't have a destination.

Thanks for the answer,

How many FR24 "Free Boxes" have been returned under terms of the "Gift"?

Almost all of the responders to increase coverage didn't ever hear anything beyond the auto responder message requesting more information. FR24s CRM software is good at slicing and dicing requests on the way to the trash. I would suppose Mike was looking at the CRM statistics for those 1,000 he emailed because I know of no one that received that email requesting requirements for equipment.

My information was specific in the original reply to the auto responder. Hearing nothing in return like the 1,000s I did my own thing.

Point here is, since the original information is gone at FR24, we would like to know how to get back in line since we have demonstrated the commitment to put up a system on FR24 and keep it online 24/7.

Other xxxxx Planes - Should be - Other xxxxx Aircraft - FR24 Database Page Error

FR24 Database Page Error:

"Other xxxxx Planes"

Should be....

"Other xxxxx Aircraft"

Most helicopters flying aren't really planes!!!

You can see the error on the bottom of this page.
http://www.flightradar24.com/data/airplanes/N787P

The database part of the URL could also be fixed... but that would be a big change to fix it from "airplanes" to "aircraft"

Please fix it! :-)

Could someone please explain to me what causes the problem where an aircraft touches down but flight radar shows it continuing to fly around. For example, last week I monitored a Virgin flight touch down from the west of Heathrow, then abruptly turn 90 degrees sharp left and head north then rejoin the other aircrafts aproaching the runway and even fly on top of one and land again.

Approaching speed/altitude combinations

$

The below could in part be a question about the flightradar application itself in that it assumes that the speed and altitude pairs being displayed are very accurate. Otherwise, this is primarily about the technique of descent as an aircraft approaches its final destination which I understand to be basically the reduction of speed.

So I actually jotted down the speed/altitude combinations of an Alitalia flight that landed a few minutes ago in Boston, coming from Rome. When I picked it up, it was at 7 330 meters from touchdown and 582 km/hr. It then progressively lost altitude, all the way to around 4 000 meters, while maintaining the same speed (give or take 2 km/hr). How is that possible? Later, it went from 2 004/428 to 1 707/469 - ie, it lost 300 meters, while the speed actually increased.

I'm quite certain there is something I'm not understanding well...
