Can anybody explain the Polar Plot to me?

What does the different shades of red indicate?

Here is my plot from today:

The deep red sector to the west only has one position reported whereas the light pink sector to the southwest has 30 positions reported so it does not mean number of hits, but the what?

How do I set up RTL1090 and FR24 feed software?

Hi,

I have a USB Dongle and using RTL1090 (beta 103?) where I can see aircraft in the list and table. I've downloaded the latest FR24 feed software and answered all questions in the command window that appears. After restarting that software I see lots of lines with info, some of them say:

connecting
connected
switching to UDP
working
ping 1
ping 2 and so on every given periode

I've tried, via RTL1090 config, both with and without /30003 - Basestation type TCP port. In FR24 I see that my receiver have transmitted data (however no aircraft info) and it is still listed as Offline.

Any ideas?

AIR5 - See this all the time, what is it?

3D Stopped Working

I did a clean install of Windows 7 64 bit about a week ago. I downloaded and installed Google Earth and the Google Earth Plugin. Flightradar24 worked fine. Then a few days ago, when I tried to use the 3D feature on a flight IE 11 immediately crashed and continued to restart itself and crash again. So I uninstalled the Google Earth Plugin, and reinstalled it, and the same thing is happening again. I've tried Microsoft automated repair of IE 11 with no success. Is there something else I should try to get the 3D feature to work again? Thanks.

adsbSCOPE (alternative) for RaspberryPi

Currently I'm running my PC 24/7 for VRS, adsbSCOPE and ModeSMixer

You may ask why would I do that

adsbSCOPE --> The first program I used. There isn't a lot of traffic in the vicinity so I drop the aircraft trail after 10 hours. This way I can always spot aircraft that have taken a different path. Last week I spotted a diversion this way.

VRS --> Used mainly for my range plot. Also there is more info available compared to adsbSCOPE for a flight/AC

ModeSMixer --> Started using this approx 1 month ago. Unlike VRS, ModeSMixer drops an aircraft if it doesn't receive a signal. This way my range plot is more accurate then the one generated by VRS.

In order to conserve energy I'm looking to buy a Raspberry Pi to run these 3 applications. VRS and ModeSMixer can run on a RaspberryPi but adsbSCOPE can't. Although adsbSCOPE isn't really necessary VRS cannot give me the exact path flown by an aircraft. Just the start en end points.

Is there an alternative to adsbSCOPE that possesses that specific option for a Raspberry Pi: keep the actual flight path visible for a set number of hours (not minutes)?

Can not get cockpit view working

Hi there,

I had a Win 8 OS on my laptop running Chrome.
FR24's cockpit view worked fine but one day it stopped working. I got the message that I need to install the GE PlugIn. However, nothing changed on that part.
After uninstallating GE and the plugin and reinstalling it, it still didn't work.
I decided to format my HDD and installed Win 10. With much hope, I launched Edge and installed the plugin and GE.... Still same message. I uninstalled GE plugin, booted, uninstalled GE, booted, installed GE, booted and finally installed the plugin. Still no luck.
My last step was to install Google Chrome and repeat all previous steps... Still no luck. I'm getting desparate certainlly since I spent already 10 hours on this prob.

Any advice guys?

Cheers,

Tom

Station names and what they mean? and Station Priorities?

Hi All,

New to FR24 , I've just installed my FR24 base station , i was lucky enough to be in a prime position so snagged a freebie :) which is very cool.

I have been assigned F-EGNX5 as a station name , now i was wondering what the F signified ? EGNX is my nearest large airport East Midlands , so assume thats why the second part , and 5? maybe 5th station in this area?

I've also noticed that planes landing at EMA , whilst they appear in my Local Aircraft list the FR24 app and website don't seem to use my data , UNTIL the flight lands and then they pretty much without fail use it for ground movements.

I think I read somewhere about a recent software update that made 'F' type stations more tuned for ground movements?

I'm very new to all of this , so am (a) Probably asking an old question (and / or) (b) Am talking nonsense? :S

I have the antenna , mounted at the apex of my roof and have great data distances , maxed out so far at 398nm. So I was wondering is there a way that FR24 prioritises which data to use? For example a local station to me N-EGNX1 seems to be a preferred station , even for flights passing directly above me , right up until the point they land (if scheduled to LOL) at EMA , then my station takes over? Very interesting.

Anyway enough waffle , hope at least some of this makes sense?

Thanks in advance.

Running FR24feed

Hi all
I am running a raspi with a DVBT dongle and fr24feed since a few days now. First I wonder if dump1090 fork supports a web interface like the original on pot 8080. The reason is so I can cross check the results of the feed and local decode.
I must say that my feed, although I see no problem on the raspberry pi, doesn't seems to contribute in anything. I see planes locally with the help of Virtual Radar on port 30003 which do not appear on the flightradar24.com live screen.
I have read many articles about it and doesn't seem to follow exactly what is happening. There are some explanations about the time needed, the data which may not be accurate and the statement that "not all planes appear on the live screen".
Does anyone has a better explanation for this? Else what is the meaning of multiple feeds if the system can not take into account information that appear here locally? If there is a cause on this please explain so I will be able to try to correct it.

Thank you for your attention

Cockpit view doesn't work

Hi there,

I just installed Win 10. First thing I did was installing Google Earth & the Google Earth plugin.
Full of hope I started Edge, went to FR and tried the cockpit view. However, there it was, the same message than before I reinstalled my PC (I reinstalled Win 10 on my Win 8 because I FR24 cockpit view didn't work anymore).
Message is 'You need Google Earth plugin...'. However, it is installed.
After that I tried Chrome, uninstalled Google Earth, booted, uninstalled the plugin, booted, reinstalled the plugin, booted, tried again but nothing seems to work in IE, Chrome or Edge.
Any help please or is Cockpit view not supported in Win 10?

Cheers,

Tom
