I discovered something new in FR24 webpage

Play Back Function

My Play back function does not work. Set date and time, then go and it goes to start page but then freezes. I press pause and then play, which starts the clock ticking over but nothing else. Anyone else have this issue?

Correlation between a/c position and map

$

(I searched and couldn't find anything relevant.) What determines the position of aircraft relative to the map (or the map relative to the aircraft, if you like)? Yesterday at both Larnaca (LCA) and Bristol (BRS), aircraft were apparently taking off and landing well south of the runway (a couple of km), although other airports I checked were OK. Today they are both spot on, with aircraft going down the runway centre line.

I'd be interested in knowing what determines the relative positioning, and what can cause it to go wrong.

(Both the web page and the Android app are/were behaving identically.)

FR24 car sticker

Hello.
There is a photo of a car that has a sticker in the rear bumper with the name of the radar (station) that provides/manage the owner of the car. Does anyone has it? If I remember properly, it was in New Zealand...

Thank you.

Radarcape dropping offline overnight

$
0
0
I'm a relative novice and invested in my own Radarcape receiver as I believed it would be easy to set up and require little or no maintenance.
I can achieve 7 days 100% feed but then occasionally find in the morning that I have gone offline at some point overnight.
The receiver lights give no clues as they still seem to be indicating reception, so my limited logic suggests an issue with transmitting back through broadband.

To the best of my knowledge, there is a stable broadband connection that has not shown any problems in the past.
So far I have interrupted power to the receiver and basically restarted it each time.

Am I missing something simple and basic?
Is there a recognized cause I can avoid to ensure this does not happen again?

A gentle, idiot proof non-technical answer would be appreciated if possible!

Funny Callsigns

Today I heard a number of fast jets flying locally so popped my head indoors to have a look at my Virtual Radar and FR24.

List

UK Eurofighter E200 Typhoon FGR.4 - Call Sign PYSCHO34
UK Boeing Sentry AEW1 - Call Sign NATO33
UK Panavia Tornado GR4 - Call Sign MR11
UK Panavia Tornado GR4 - Call Sign MR14
UK Panavia Tornado GR4 - Call Sign MR23

There were two additional Tornados with Call Signs of MR13 & MR12, but they dropped of my list before I could screen grab..!

Must have been on a long flight somewhere, they were accompanied by a US Boeing KC135R Stratotanker.

There was another plane on the list with the call sign MONSTR21 but I could not see what it was..!

My favourite is obviously PSYCHO34 as you can almost imagine what the pilot must be like..

Lear Jets

Why are all that I've seen, lear jets marked the same, just as LJ45's FR24 seem to omit the registration/tail/icao details on them all, at least in Australia anyway.

These aircraft put out the same data as other aircraft, I can see here for example that LJ45 is actually identified as:
AM451
ICAO: 7c6d4c

I've seen this to be common for some time on other lear jets as well, not just 451, FR24 always dont display the rego.

Not sure if this is the right place to post, so i do apologise if it is not. I can still receive them on my iPad but can not for the life of me get them to work on my iPhone, i have got in touch with the app people and they couldn't help me. i have deleted and reinstalled, check notifications and they all are on, i have tried everything, can somebody please help. :(

FR24 Hardware not feeding since I moved to a new location

My feeder, F-KBTV1 is not connecting to FR24 and providing data and I am unsure why. The device is properly connected to the internet, the GPS and antenna are functional and connected. There are only so many things that I can do in terms of configuring the device and I have done everything I can think of. There is no clear reason why the device fails to feed its data. I am providing a short snippet of the log.

Flight Routes question

I've just been watching a FedEx plane going from Memphis to Dubai, and he passed right over my house (at 35000ft). I'm in Scotland, far to the north of both Memphis and Dubai. Can I ask why they take this route?

Flights eastbound from Sydney

Just interested to know why some international flights out of Sydney i.e. Syd-Lax Syd Dfw etc take such different flightpaths within hours sometimes minutes of each other. For example A Qantas flight to to US flies direct east then northeast and a short time later a United flight will fly to the US up the coast leaving the Aust mainland near Coffs Harbour. why the big discrepancy when there is no weather to affect them on a clear day.I live in Newcastle so very rarely do I see an a380 or 777 fly over here Thanks in advance for your input.

Planes seen by my radar not showing up on FR24 site

Hi All,

I am using a DVB-T dongle with Raspberry Pi to feed data. Last night I observed that planes seen by my radar (T-VOBL21) were not appearing on FR24 website. For example, flight FDB555, the one selected in dump1090 image, is not see on FR24 website. As seen in the last image, the feeders service on Pi seems to be running fine. What could be the reason?

Screenshot from 2015-11-01 02:42:37.jpgScreenshot from 2015-11-01 02:42:42.jpgScreenshot from 2015-11-01 02:44:03.png

Feeders cross feeding position data from Flightaware for MLAT aircraft

$
0

It seems to be an increasing problem that some FR24-feeders, who also feed other networks like FlightAware are receiving MLAT position resolutions back from these networks and then feed them into Flightradar as if it was their own data received directly from the aircraft.

You will seen aircraft known as not ADS-B equipped being attributed to a specific feeder even if this cannot be the case.

Here is one example from Germany:
T-EDDW30.JPG
T-EDDW30 MLAT.JPG

On multible occasions I have seen T-EDDW30 attribute to aircraft I know 100 % to not be ADS-B capable.

There are multible others around the world.

The feed host may or may not be aware that they are cross feeding position data from one network to the other, and FR24 seems unable to filter the data.

Not wanting to 'name and shame' - as this may be unintentional - but if we can list the receivers as we detect them, FR24 should be able to contact the host and help them stop cross feeding.

So T-EDDW30 is first on the list.

KGL9268 "SPEED" parameter question.

$

Hi,

What does "SPEED" mean when you click on a plane and it opens up the info box on the left side of the screen? Is that air speed or ground speed?
Sorry if this question has been answered before but couldn't find it in the FAQ or anywhere else. In light of the disaster over Egypt with KGL9268, that difference would be quite significant.

TIA :).

Difficulty understanding my readouts

Hello. I have great difficulty understanding my readouts and would like some assistance. I will just post one this time but will ask about others later. I assume I am in the correct Forum?
My questions:
1 What does the dark Red and the light Red colours signify?
2 What do the blue dots and connecting lines signify?
3 What do the icons and figures at the bottom refer to, ie >200nm, 200nm, etc?

Hope someone can help me on this, once I learn what the charts mean I can get a lot more out of my station.

Thanks./Bill CYBR

I have been tracking plane BAW11 which says to it going from London Heathrow to San Francisco and clicking route shows it would go to the east a little way then over the UK, Scotland ,Greenland etc
it is now going east and crossing from Poland to Belarus at the moment a check on google shows it is probably the service to Singapore not San Francisco.

Italian and (in general) EU Legislation on receiving ADS-B data

$

Hi everyone,

I would like to buy an ADS-B receiver / feeder in order to improve the coverage in my area.
However, I am a bit concerned about the legal aspect of this, and particularly whether this practice is legal in my country (Italy, specifically).

So far, I haven't found anything on the web, and it seems that there is no legislation at EU level on this matter.
Can anyone provide any insight on this or has some knowledge about this?

Do you know whether public offices (e.g. universities) are regulated differently with respect to receiving ADS-B data as a private individual?

Thanks in advance and best regards.
