Did anybody have have any problems when taking pictures inside the airport terminal. Yesterday I've been asked to stop taking pictures and delete the ones I took. I was told it was due to security reasons. It happened in London Luton terminal in check-in area. Please share you experiences.

Hi There,

Was wondering if there an android feeder app is in development ? I did see flightaware does have one.

I have an old android phone and tablet which I could put to use for feeding data to FR.

I could setup 2 different sites not covered by FR.

Radar names

Despite search, cannot find answer (only 1 old post), so here goes.
Could someone please explain the naming convention of the radars. I am F-YMAV1 in Ballarat Australia. I understand about MLAT, and assume that I contribute to the MLAT picture. I can see a plane that has T-MLAT3 as it's radar. Does this mean it is an MLAT derived response, and if so, what does the 3 stand for. Also, I have seen planes with radar T-YMAV1 (ie the second part of the radar is the same as mine) in my area. Is the YMAV1 designator unique, if so what is the differentiation between the T and the F. (I thought I had read somewhere that the F prefix related to a FR24 feed, but could not find the it again.)
I have also seen radars designated RX-....
To help get a better picture of how the total data picture is constructed, I believe a brief description of the naming convention would be useful, perhaps as a sticky thread in the forum or FAQ

Thanks in advance

Hi all

I've tried to get my little rpi up and running and even though it is running and connecting, I can't seem to get it to report anything.

I was wondering anyone can offer some tips that I can use to see if the DVB-T is actually working correctly?

I did make a coax collineal antenna but have checked that and it gives me a nice beep when I connect to either end of the copper and nothing between the shield and copper so I think that is ok. I've also left the end piece open as I didn't have a 75 ohm resistor but I read it's ok to do that.

I'm running raspbian noobs v1.4.2 and have followed the post "Beta test new Flightradar24 MLAT software for Raspberry Pi" to install FR24Feed.

The status screen on the rpi shows it's connected via UDP with my code and a connected dvbt reciever with MLAT on.

But the aircraft tracked is 0 and uploaded is n/a.

I've googled the heck out of it and checked the forums (have also set up the blacklist file as well as per another post here) but haven't had any luck.

Looking forward to someone having a suggestion or two please.

Cheers

Raspberry Pi problem

Hi There,

I just updated the Raspberry Pi FR firmware.

While updating I overwrote the fr24feed.ini

pi@raspberrypi ~ $ sudo dpkg --configure -a
Setting up fr24feed (1.0.14-7) ...

Configuration file `/etc/fr24feed.ini'
==> Modified (by you or by a script) since installation.
==> Package distributor has shipped an updated version.
What would you like to do about it ? Your options are:
Y or I : install the package maintainer's version
N or O : keep your currently-installed version
D : show the differences between the versions
Z : start a shell to examine the situation
The default action is to keep your current version.
*** fr24feed.ini (Y/I/N/O/D/Z) [default=N] ? Y
Installing new version of config file /etc/fr24feed.ini ...

now when I run the setup I get :

ERROR: config file '/etc/fr24feed.ini' is not writable. Please check that file permissions are correct!

tried changing the file permission, but it is not working

chmod: changing permissions of `/etc/fr24feed.ini': Operation not permitted

could someone help me out.

Thanks

Ended up getting the plus model for only a couple dollars more than the regular one through Amazon. Is there any settings that need to be changed in Dump1090-Mut specifically for this dongle? Sorry for the more than likely stupid question, but just getting started and have absorbed so much already, but haven't seen anything specific to it.

Thanks,

i am feeding since some weeks 24/7 and when i filter my radarname at http://www.flightradar24.com , no plane is apppearing.
i tried that a lot of times.
the feeder software shows me up to 50 planes but always i found 2 or 3 planes when i turn on the filter on FR24 website .
is it possible that my data is corrupt?:confused:

Checking all is well

Hello,

I have been feeding on and off for a while now on my pc with a dtv stick. I have made quite a few upgrades in that time such as building a collinear coaxial antenna which is mounted above my roof line and attaching an LNA4All amplifier and ADSB filter. I am happy with the results given my location, pretty much sea level with houses and trees all around. I am picking up signals from at peak times nearly 200 ac at most up to 170nm away.

I have now however purchased a Raspberry Pi in order to help improve MLAT coverage. Everything seems to be set up and running well. But, I still never see my receiver credited for an aircraft's location.

I`m not that concerned about being credited, but I do worry if the quality of my data or something isnt quite right with the setup. Is there any way of double checking my end? Or is that something that only FR`s own admin could check.

I`m using a RPi 2 b, clean install of raspbian and most recent FR24 software, nothing else installed. I`m using a WiFi connection, but a wired Lan would be possible if it makes a big difference.

This is a recent status..

[ ok ] FR24 Feeder/Decoder Process: running.
[ ok ] FR24 Stats Timestamp: 2015-10-19 14:57:46.
[ ok ] FR24 Link: connected [UDP].
[ ok ] FR24 Radar: T-EGHI66.
[ ok ] FR24 Tracked AC: 108.
[ ok ] Receiver: connected (30302791 MSGS/0 SYNC).
[ ok ] FR24 MLAT: ok [UDP].
[ ok ] FR24 MLAT AC seen: 109.

Linux is all a bit new to me but I`m learning fast. I read somewhere that it is possible to change the gain and offset through the config file. is that something that is best left alone, or should I add in the commands and values? I think my offset should be around -50ppm and the gain setting works best around the 25-30db range.

Think that's about it for now ;)

Cheers,
Paul.

Hi,

Is there a possibility to view flights in the past and also see the plane's registration. For example, if I want to see the plane that flew UA58 in october 2012?

Thanks :)

I'm monitoring LiveATC ground/tower/approach for KTPA and watching Flightradar24. I'm hearing clear for departure and clear to land, yet they are not showing on Flightradar24. KTPA is class B, and these are commercial carriers, not GA. Any idea why?

I want to know why FR24.COM can operate in flight at FL38,000ft and you can see maps track aircraft. Yet why on the ground that the planes or aircraft disappear after certain ALT. Yet Flightawarecom you can see the a/c at these FL

Will rabbit ears work?

I have the USB Dongle with the mcx antenna. To improve my range would a cheap rabbit ear antenna help? I don't need to try and pick up airplanes from 100 miles away, just 20 miles or so. This would be an indoor antenna. Everything I have looked at about ads-b antennas seem to imply that you should make your own or buy some expensive outdoor antenna. I just want something a little bit better for $10.
