SBS-1 - network - FR24FEED problems

$

0
Recent user of RaspPI2, and previous install was feeding well for several months, but last night stopped feeding. I've assumed that the software required updating, so actioned this today. Everything went well till I tested the install, and keeps getting notified that F24FEED cannot access my SBS-1 box via the ip address and port. I've checked to make sure this info is ok, and even confirmed box was working by testing an old version of Basestation, which connect on the device and port perfectly.

Can anyone please help pointing me in the direction of where my error is?

Below is part of the error report;

Optimize the Whip Antenna Which Is Supplied With DVB-T Dongle

$

STARTER
When DVB-T Dongle is purchased, a whip antenna is supplied with it. Every beginner uses this whip in his starter setup.

Improve the performance of this whip antenna by three simple steps given below:

(1) Whip is too long for 1090 MHz. Cut it to 67mm.
(2) Magnetic base provides an insufficient ground-plane. Enlarge ground-plane by placing the whip over a Metallic Can/Box/Plate. An added advantage of placing whip over an iron/steel can is that whip's magnetic base will cling to the can and keep the whip stable & upright.
(3) Signal is weak indoors. Place whip near a window or in attic to get maximum signal.

NEXT STEP
Once your setup is up and running, you will be happy, but soon after you will want to increase your range. You can then try some easy and sure antenna, like Spider & Cantena. Go to the thread linked below for "how to make" instructions for Cantenna & Spider

3 EASY ANTENNAS FOR BEGINNERS

VENTURING BEYOND......
Next step may be to venture through alluring coaxial antennas (coaxial cillinear, popularly known as coco, franklin, wire collinear with coils). These antennas are very alluring, as these are easy to make, and all postings on internet & youtube claim high gain excellent antenna. The problem shows up when these antennas are put to service, and give poor perfamance. Collinears are very hard to get right, and except few lucky ones, most DIY collinear makers end up with a poor performing antenna.

I have a USB dongle that I use for ADS-B and want to feed it to flightaware and flightradar24. Is there a way to do this or do I have to have two separate PC's and two separate dongles?

Adding GPS to my RPi2

Got a small USB with cable GPS receiver (Earthmate LT-20) and thinking if it could be integrated to my FR24 feeder ADSB receiver. I was able to run it using other Linux distros and hoping it will work on RPi2. I want it to run together with FR24 feeder. If this question already exist please point me to the link. Thanks

Galaxy S4 Android App!

Am new to the Forums, so may be posting off topic or wrong Forum.

Was browsing the "big computer" product Forum (http://forum.flightradar24.com/) and saw the notices for the Android App and wondered if I could do anything with my Galaxy S4. I followed the instructions by first checking for the Google whatever App, and it was already installed. Then I followed another instruction, and paid about $4. Within a few seconds I received a message that the download was complete and the App was ready for use. I scrolled through 5 or six pages of icons and spotted the flightradar24 icon. Did the "save location" option and the map jumped to my home area and showed planes moving in the area. Clicked on a plane incoming about 25 miles and 10000 ft AGL Curious, I saw the 3D icon (no longer works on the "big" product) and was simply blown away by the result.

A moving detailed view from above in far greater detail/resolution than I would get looking out the plane's window with my 76 yr old eyes. The vid kept moving smoothly until AGL got to about 2000 ft. Then the app started freezing up at increasingly shorter time intervals. I quickly learned to hit "back" and then "3D" after each freeze. At about 400 ft AGL the app froze and message "no new data" appeared. Connected through the house router so no data use recorded. I'm afraid if I get addicted to this out and about, I might run up a data use bill, lol. Great job to the team that worked this app! Thanks!

Whenever I log in, I keep having the change things like Aircraft Label, Turn Label display on, 24 Hours, Turn "show twitter/media" off", use 24 Hours, show Altitude in metres and that's about it.

I have to change it every time I log in.

Capturing data for statistics, etc

Hi there,

I'm a vetern FR24 user, and a new FR24 feeder (T-LLSD17). I have two questions which are somewhat related:

1) Is it possible to get more statistics from FR24? I'm checking the feed_stats page on FR24 several times a day but I would love an option to compare between days or hours.
I don't see that they are providing this, so if there is any way to download this data from FR24 as csv or similar, it would be great.

2) I would like to create a database of the planes my antenna catches, so that I can later check and see if there is anything interesting there. I live in an interesting area and I already happened to see some interesting planes that my antenna caught, that FR24 hides.
Is this possible?

My current setup is a DVB-T dongle + indoor antenna (which is currently outside my window, hope the cold doesn't kill it...), fr24feed, and yesterday I installed Virtual Radar Server, which I thought would solve the 2nd problem, but I cannot see a way to write data there.

Thanks!
Adi

Up and running FR24Feed on RASPBERRY PI

Hi,

I already got used to feed with DVB-T stick on the PC.
Couple days ago one of friend gave me a raspberry for feed to me.
I installed Ubuntu-mate on it.
after that I installed FR24FEED with this command on Flightradar raspberry page.

I completed whole configuration and finished.

But I have 2 question.

1) how can I configure the fr24feed for auto service I mean after crash, restart or boot automatic run and starting for feed?
2) I have problem with SSH on my raspberry from windows and putty.

If you have full instruction for fr24feed on RASPBERRY PI please link for that too.

Thank you,

Get up and feeding in under an hour using Docker

Hi Flightradar 24 Forum users,

I am a very long time daily user and ADSB submitter of Flightradar 24 and wanted to share some of my recent work regarding the use of Docker and a Raspberry Pi to allow full configuration and submitting to the Flightradar, Planefinder and Flightaware in under an hour.
Then I noted above....

"IMPORTANT NOTICE! In order to protect forum from spam robots, please don't include any links in your first 3 posts that you make on the forum, as your post will automatically be deleted."

As a first time poster to this forum, I'll have to elaborate a bit more without providing links.
Although hoping to follow up this post with some information that would help.

Before starting with my process the following is required:

1. A Raspberry Pi (preferably 2)
2. An empty micro SD card (16GB or more, class 10 preferred)
3. An RTL-SDR dongle with antenna
4. A small amount of time with almost no technical knowledge required

I have spent a lot of time on my own Pi, but wanted to create a process that would:

a) allow me to configure additional Pi's quickly and easily
b) a process that could be altered slightly for different GPS locations

Hoping to post more rather than leave everyone hanging....

In the meantime, please refer to the Hypriot OS website and I'll post shortly

Ubuntu 15.10 upgrade sent me offline, any thoughts why?

I (rightly or wrongly) upgraded my system to Ubuntu 15.10 from 15.04 yesterday and since then my feed has been offline. I emailed support and they state that there is no change on their side so it must be the upgrade. The feed was working beforehand and support have confirmed it.

Has anyone else had this issue and if so, what did you do to fix it?

Ali Mack

Raspberry Pi FR24 Service Status

$

Hi there,

I've had FR24 on my PC for a while now but recently set it up on a raspberry pi to add a little more MLAT coverage in my area.

I had Dump1090 setup on my pi manually (does not run at startup) and then proceeded to install FR24 with the following command:

Code:

sudo bash -c "$(wget -O - FR24/install_fr24_rpi.sh)"
*
*Note that I am aware this isnt the correct address - I am not allowed to post hyperlinks as a new member

Everything worked fine and after that was finished i checked the status with the command:

Code:

service fr24feed status

However, at this stage my results differ tremendously from the information given in the setup guide.
Instead of the below output:

Code:

$ sudo service fr24feed status
[ ok ] FR24 Feeder/Decoder Process: running.
[ ok ] FR24 Stats Timestamp: 2015-07-01 07:55:45.
[ ok ] FR24 Link: connected [UDP].
[ ok ] FR24 Radar: T-XXXX12.
[ ok ] FR24 Tracked AC: 2.
[ ok ] Receiver: connected (3313 MSGS/0 SYNC).
[ ok ] FR24 MLAT: ok [UDP].
[ ok ] FR24 MLAT AC seen: 5.

I am getting the following output:

RPI_FR24_Status.PNG

My question is - Is this expected with the most recent software version? If so then how can I confirm that I am feeding MLAT data to flight radar? I know I am feeding standard ADS-B data as my premium membership expiration date and data pages are updating as expected.

Thanks
