RPI FR24 Troubleshooting

$
0
0
Hi all,

We've installed FR24 on a RPI following the instructions and using the PI24 image file.

The antenna is outside and about 6ft from a single storey building.

We live about 15 miles from East Midlands Airport.

The status shows as:

FR24 Link: Connected via UDP
FR24 Radar Code: T-EGNX126
Aircraft Tracked (ModeS & ADS-B): 0
Aircraft Uploaded: N/A
Receiver: dvbt, Connected
MLAT running: NO

Please can someone advise some basic troubleshooting we should carry out?

Thanks

External / high power antenna for RPi feeding to FR24

Have had a Raspberry Pi3 Model B running a feed to FR24 for a while now, however it barely collects any data since the internal antenna doesn't do much help, it's the one that came with the NESDR Mini2+ that I bought off Amazon.

Are there any decent external antennas that I can mount outside of the house to get better signal with the same RPi setup?

Taxiways

Listening to "Kennedy Steve" recordings on YouTube has peeked my interest in the extremely complex JFK ground operations. Many flights can be followed on the taxiways/runways while listening to JFK ATC ground Freqs. Though no one has emerged as entertaining as Steve, still an interesting and enlightening pursuit.

Is it possible to overlay taxiway and runway names/numbers on the Fr24's JFK airport map? Currently they are all visible, but not labeled.

Thank you in advance.

Alerts are seriously delayed

7700 and 7600 alerts to my iPad and iPhone are getting more and more delayed. Typically I get the alerts from PlaneFinder about 30 minutes!! before they arrive from FR24.

More than half the time, when I get the FR24 alert, the flight is no longer being tracked. Even when it's still being tracked, it's likely that it will already have landed.

The delay seems to be consistent on both my iPad and my iPhone. It has been progressively getting worse over the last year or so, and is clearly unacceptable.

FAA Drone Registration Rule Shot Down by Appeals Court;

On Friday, a Washington D.C. court ruled that the FAA’s 2015 small unmanned aircraft (UAS) registration rule violates the FAA Modernization and Reform Act of 2012. Under the rule, owners of drones weighing between .55 and 55 pounds were required to register their aircraft, because, as then-U.S. Transportation Secretary Anthony Foxx said in the original statement, “unmanned aircraft enthusiast are aviators, and with that title comes a great deal of responsibility.”

One of my rare posts here. still more looking/feeding then participating in the forum but well ...

About 15 mins ago an old plane flew over my head and I could track it on the map via the history play-back (nice feature)

this is what I found for the plane but couldn't find much more about it via it's registration, someone knows more ? A V tailed one (Fouga ??)
Someone has more details ? I remember this flying when I was bout 7 apples high when I visited some military airshows with my dad ... surprised to see one flying over my garden today ..

thanks for your insights/leads to find it's origin

Wrong Arrival Times showing - defaults to Sched. time?

$

I have noticed recently that the arrival times are not always accurate. For example using my local airport Birmingham (BHX/EGBB) :-

flight ZB903 from Dalaman due at 15:40 is showing on FR24 as "landed 15:40" with a yellow dot against it, indicating it arrived late, so how could it be showing as landed on time? On checking airline/airport websites etc.. the official landing time for the flight was 15:59, so an arrival time discrepancy of 19 minutes.

so far today 12 flights arriving at BHX show on FR24 as having landed as the same scheduled arrival time, when in fact these 12 flight actually arrived early or late.

It appears that for some reason FR24 sometimes publish the scheduled landing time instead of the actual land time. Is this a default setting in the FR24 system, or is this an issue that FR24 needs to look at?

Has anyone else noticed this problem too?

New Feeder SBS upload tests

Oblivian;

Thanks for the help. I'm running the Basestation hardware (obviously, got to have that) but not the software with output on Port 20072 which is how I've run it with the previous feed.exe version which was mainly to simplify things and allow me to upload without all the distractions of the software running. In fact when I installed the new feed.exe, the ini file the feed created on first run was exactly the same as that for the previous version so surprised me that it wouldn't work. Fixed it easily by reverting back to the previous feeder version but still it would be nice to run the new version at least for FR24's benefit. I might need to do some homework on those other port numbers as I'm not at all familiar with them and one reason I haven't jumped in on the thread re setting up Basestation.

By the way, the output on 30005, does that include Basestation SBS1 or only the 1-ER or -3 models (or all three)?

Gregg

Own Ground Traffic missing

hello,

my situation:
receiver: sbs-3 connected via tcp to raspberry pi 3 to fr24feed software v 1.0.16-10 (newer one does not work in this combination).
i am only a view 100m away from LOWL airport and i can see all the groundtraffic, when i am using Basestation software.
when i am feeding with fr24feed i don't see my own groundtraffic in radarview on fr24web and i don't see my groundtraffic
when i connect with a local viewing program via port 30003. i can see all traffic above about 300m.

what could be the problem????

New user, FR24 says I'm offline, getting nowhere... help?!

Hi all,

Sorry to say but I'm another newbie who is having a horrible time trying to set up a tracker using raspberry pi + dvb-t usb stick (completely standard setup as recommended on their page). Flightradar made it out to be so easy, but once I install everything to the SD card (following FR24's instructions to a T), my raspberry pi isn't detected by their auto-detection page, which I understand is common.

So, I go through ssh instead, and successfully set up my pi. I'm given a key, a radar code and everything. Only issue is, while I show as connected on my feeder status page (:8754), fr24 shows my radar as offline, and I can't track anything. I've tried to troubleshoot, but unfortunately, this is my first foray into raspberry pi and linux, so most stuff is extremely over my head. I've tried switching my reciever type and while AVR *does* work in that it connects, fr24 still shows as offline.

I'm really dumbfounded, because despite reinstalling 2x now, every guide I've seen... the setup takes 15 mins. Here I am 5 hours later, with no clue what's going on.

Basically, I'm hoping someone here would be willing to just hold my hand and walk me through the process from start to finish, tell me what settings to use and which buttons to press, because I'm at my wits end. Help would be much appreciated.

Attached are my config pages, maybe I'm missing something obvious?

Thank you!

Poor range performance

$

Dear All,

untill yesterday I used a VRS on windows with a DVTB dongle for feed FR24, my standard range was always around 180 Nm.
Today I moved on raspberry 3, connecting the same DVTB dongle (picture attached) and using the link " "sudo bash -c "$(wget -O - http://repo.feed.flightradar24.com/install_fr24_rpi.sh)" for installation.
The problem now is that my maximum range is 20 Nm, how is possibile? I didn't move the antenna, and if I connect the dongle to the PC the result come back to 180 Nm, then is not an antenna problem.
Here under i report some data that i hope will help you:
