AR view not working in iPad Air 2

I am relatively new to flightradar24 Pro. On my iPhone the AR view works. On my iPad Air2 when I click on AR View, the camera begins, the little map circle appears at the bottom of the screen but does not rotate as I move around and the details of what appears to be a random plane (i.e. not one in the line of sight when I switch it on but which does appear in the map circle) partially appears at the very top left. Planes do appear to be moving in the map circle.
I have uninstalled/reinstalled,I have even done a hard reset on the iPad and then reinstalled - all to no avail.
The compass function works on the Maps app so presumably it is not a hardware problem with the compass.
Can anyone help?

NooElec with small antenna ---> FA Pro Stick + FA 1090 Antenna = worse results?

I had a cheapo nooelec DVBT stick with the antenna it comes with... little mag mount 6" antenna. Put it outside on my patio, stuck the antenna to the top of my bbq grill, and set up fr24feed. Didn't modify any settings.

I was seeing 1200-1300 aircraft/day with some of them 70nm away.

Interested in kicking it up a notch, I upgraded - I bought a "Flightaware Pro Stick USB ADS-B receiver dongle which includes an internal 1090 MHZ band pass filter" AND the FlightAware-branded 26" long 1090mhz antenna. Attached it to my patio up higher than the previous antenna's location. Connected to the Pro Stick with a short 16 inch cable.

Booted up the pi and was disappointed to see I was only getting aircraft 40nm away and only ~700/day. I switched over to dump1090-mutability and ran the python script to figure out my ideal gain... ended up being 42.1dB (with 29dB being a close second)... I'm now seeing ~900 aircraft/day and a max distance of 54nm.... still not even close to the cheap stick, let alone better!

Any ideas? Here's my monitor.txt:

Hello,

please can you add a feature unter Settings like 'FLARM, MLAT or US/CANADA RADAR":

Enable/Disable view Squawk 7000 Aircrafts.
and or
Enable/Disable view Single Engine Aircrafts

Squawk 7000 in Europe normaly VFR Aircrafts (mostly small Aircrafts).

That features interesting to NOT see all the small aircrafts.

Thanks

Hi

It's now 10:20 pm so it's night time.
On the map of the Iberian Peninsula, Portuguese airports and for example Madrid in Spain all have "night icons" but some others Spanish airports, Salamanca, Valladolid, Badajoz, Leon have .... a nice and radiant sun!
Something wrong, I think.

Importance and degree of feeder accuracy for MLAT

$

So I had to perform a fresh reinstall on a Pi3 system over the weekend, and thankfully everything seems to be up and working again. (I think? I hope?!)

A quick sudo fr24feed status reveals my my MLAT preconfigured details as below.

[mlat][i]Starting MLAT with preconfigured position: 56.50,-3.01,344.0

I'm assuming this relates to a latitude of 56.50 Longitude of -3.01 and altitude of 344ft.

A quick recheck of the receivers position via GPS suggested my Lat/Lon was;

56.29'55.1N
3.0'34.7W
302ft (AMSL)

Whilst Lat/Lon remained consistent on remeasuring, the height (ft AMSL) varied quite a bit between two devices by around 30ft. My Fenix 5 GPS sports watch (with barometric, GPS/GLONASS sensors) reported 320ft AMSL and my Samsung S7 remained reasonably consistent at around 302ft.

I have two queries really;

Is the degree of variation from the existing MLAT preconfigured position/feed and recent remeasuring worth notifying support to update?
Is the variation, particularly the altitude, much of an issue? I guess this device with barometric sensors will be more accurate?

London Gatwick (LGW) Reduced feeder coverage

Sorry if this has been picked up / discussed in another thread, I have searched without success.

I have noticed over the last few weeks / months that the ground coverage at LGW has been severely reduced. Normally the only major dead spot was at the eastern end of the taxiway adjacent to runway 8L, now it is extremely patchy all over the airport.

Does anyone have any information on this, is it a known issue?

A large part of the enjoyment with FR24 is the ability to track / follow the A/C from the stand to takeoff, even in 3D, which is a blast!

Very many thanks, thePM

Its dark and this happened yesterday too.

different coverage changing place: is important the speed of wi-fi?

$

I know, the title is a little obscure.
I placed my Raspberry with a DVB-T stick and the antenna (1/4 wave, stylo) near my router, with the antenna posed on the frame of the aluminium window, at last floor of the building.
This way I get a coverage only in a restricted beam around 240° and receive aircraft until 210 miles.
The Raspberry was connected with a cable, and now via wi-fi.
When all was working, I placed the same hardware on the flat roof (a terrace), which is not obstructed and the antenna has a 360° sky visibility.
Now, I get a near 360° coverage BUT ONLY UNTIL 40 Miles and no more!
All is the same, antenna cable, hardware, position, only the place is 3 meters high. The only thing different is the distance from the router: it will be possible that a weak signal interfere with the coverage? I believe it is impossible, but why placing the antenna in a better position DECREASE my coverage?
Perhaps will be a saturation problem? I don't have any RF source in the neighbor...
Any suggestion?

Than you!

Using fr24feed with already installed dump1090

Hello,

this is probably a common problem, but I couldn't find anything while googling. I already have dump1090 installed and everything worked(checked via <raspberryip>:8080) however I can't manage to get fr24feed to connect to dump1090 it always says 0 planes.

If someone has the same problem, could you please post your settings/command to start dump1090 so that I can start feeding?

Thank you,
Luca

plane information missing / data registrations

Hello all

Can any one help me please?

Sadly, due to a hard drive fail  I have lost many backed up files, including my documents on my history of travels which had the data of my flights, dates, registrations destinations.

With the help of some of the great history logged sites out there, I've managed to gather back details, which I’m around 70% there now, but struggling to locate the rest.

I have most of my details gathered from gatwick and heathrow.

There are a few of my flights, details listed below, if anyone may know of the details of the plane registrations that would be really amazing :

Thanks for your help in advance, kind regards :0)

Raspberry Jessie Lite image vs APT package (Pi 3)

$

I am currently experimenting for first time on a Raspberry Pi 3, with the fr24feed APT package, installing this on a fresh Raspbian image. All is good connecting via wifi.

On the '/build-your-own/' page of the site, there is the complete Raspberry Pi image based on Raspbian Jessie lite. This doesn't seem to get mentioned on the feed.flightradar24 site, nor in the stickies on this forum as far as I can see.

- I am using a Raspberry Pi 3, will need to use wifi connection, and am planning on it being a dedicated device for this purpose stashed away in the loft. I don't have any need for a GUI.

Is there any significant difference in the end result between these two options once it is working? Is the complete image a lesser option for any reason (and intended basically for simplicity), or is it actually a better option for a dedicated device? I assume the R.Jessie.lite image has the same dump1090 and ability to look at a map of tracked flights locally, e.g. on port 8080? I am assuming I will be able to get wifi working on the R.lite image and it would work through that in the same way.

Thanks for any information or signposting to info.

What kind of antenna is suitable for indoor usage?

$

I live on the 10th floor. There are windows facing to north and south.
And I'm using a USB Dongle(R820T), the antenna comes with the dongle.

The max distance is 21NM according to fr24 stats.

Now I want to DIY a better antenna.
Could you suggest which kind of type is better? What about J pole?

BTW. what's the type of the FR24 box receiver antenna? And can it be sold separately?

Thanks.
