Adding FlightAware feed to a FR24 RPi

I've seen several posts on how to add FR24 to an existing Flightaware feeder. Can somebody help describe how I go about adding a Flightaware feed to my existing FR24 RPi?

Thanks in advance.

Thread on Jetvision SCO Antenna

I have a Jetvision SCO-1090-MCX antenna that has 3m of RG174 cable and the MCX plug. I intend to replace the MCX with SMA to use it as a field/test antenna.

Does anyone have one of these and can identify the thread ( size/pitch/description ) used on the base ? It came with a clamp but I'm thinking it would be more useful with a nut. I haven't had any luck at local 'bolt barn or hardware' stores.

Cheers

Restart FR24 after RaspPi reboot

I had to restart my RaspPi and now it's not feeding FR24. Do just use: "sudo service fr24feed start" to get it running again?
Is there a command I can insert somewhere to have it auto-start? I feed FA, FR24, and RB24. FA seems to restart automatically.

Thanks!

Jason

Fleets not working

I'm on the business plan - so fleets should be working.
I turn on one fleet in my filter control. It does nothing. I still see all the aircraft in the entire system being tracked, not just my fleet.

Can anyone explain why this happens? I should be seeing ONLY my fleet.

I try Stretch workaround, dirmngr is running...

I launch sudo bash -c command (sorry no link allowed, user too new...)

Any idea ?

Heat Map / Range Map Recording Data?

I’m looking for a simple way to see the how far in different directions I am tracking aircraft.
Let me repeat “simple” as in it easy for a newbie to install and something that can be uninstalled or stopped so it doesn’t eat up resources on the PI.
I’ve been looking at a bunch of info on other sites and some have broken links / out of date or just get too complex and / or run all of the time.
Thanks for helping,
Rock Ridge
PS: I’m experimenting with antennas and different locations because of my topography and the “Max Range” on the performance graphs doesn’t tell the whole story.

How to adjust PPM offset in Raspberry Pi

$

Hi,

I just installed the FR24 feed software using the image for Raspberry Pi. A USB Dongle is not exactly on the correct frequency and that can lead to lower than expected range. This off frequency (called PPM) can normally be adjusted. It can be so in SDR# and also the FR24 feed software for windows.

I assume there is a similar option for the Raspberry Pi, and I was wondering what the command is to correct PPM by 80?

Thank you

The Raspberry software (from FR24 IMG file) stops working all the time

I have used the IMG provided on the FR24 pages, and it works fine for a while, then just quits, and will never do anything useful again until I make a fresh install on the SD card. So maybe I should try what is described in this thread. But, since I am no expert on Linus I have to ask:

> "You don't need to connect any display , open putty soft & ssh on the IP."

What on earth does this mean...?? :-)
As I understand, you control the the Pi from another computer, but how do I do that from a Windows PC?

Thanks!

Raspberry Pi - [FAIL] FR24 Feeder/Decoder Process ... failed!

A couple of days ago I set up my new Raspberry Pi with the FR24 image following these instructions: https://www.flightradar24.com/build-your-own

Today I see on the FR24 site that my receiver has been offline since 8 in the morning.

I've tried various commands:

sudo fr24feed-status
opens with: [FAIL] FR24 Feeder/Decoder Process ... failed!

I've also tried

sudo service fr24feed stop
sudo service fr24feed start

sudo service fr24feed stop
sudo fr24feed start

And also reboot of the Pi, shutdown of the Pie and even cutting power and restarting.

I'm lost and wonder where to go next...

Error when updating: no space left on device

From time to time I do a sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get dist-upgrade. Yesterday I got some error messages with the main reason being (I guess) the "No space left on device" message.

I have a 1 GB sdcard, is it possible it's filled due to FR24? I have nothing else running and am using the build from this website. Logging is disabled. Any idea what might be using that much disk space?

FYI double check your FR24 status correctly

Just a reminder / FYI to double check your FR24 status correctly.
After the current issues of software crashes, I have been checking my receiver status on the website at https://www.flightradar24.com/account/data-sharing whenever I can.
First thing this morning it said I was offline again.
Many of us may have a predisposition to think, “Here we go again, a bad auto update of the software”.
I booked marked the very helpful page with Diagnostic Commands https://forum.flightradar24.com/thre...ostic-Commands so I started to check my RPi with those commands and it said everything was ok.
I refreshed the data stats page and it still showed I was offline? I then checked my dump-1090 map and it showed no aircraft. It was very early in the morning and I am in a remote area so there are times where there are no aircraft in range.
The bottom line: As soon as aircraft became in range, my web status went from “Offline” to “Online”
I’m not sure how long of a time period between reporting the last aircraft and the status changing to “Offline”
I just wanted to share my experience as a newbie and hopefully a lesson learned.

Acars and fuel burn info

Hi,

Can Acars provide fuel burn info such as type of fuel and how much was burned during flight (interested mostly in EU airlines)?

If not can this info be found some other way?

Thank you.

FR24feed still isn't fixed

Apologies for starting yet another thread, but from where I'm sitting the problem with Pi updates still isn't fixed.

At about 0700 on 16th Jan my Pi stopped reporting along with many others. Not realising there was a general problem I just downloaded a new image (.18-9) and started again. Then I started following the issue here and understood why my Pi had failed. Interestingly my Pi never updated itself to a 19-* version after the re-install on the 16th, it just kept working.

Having read that the problems looked as if they were resolved, last night I installed a new image (18-9 again) and left it running to see if it would update. At about 0700 today it stopped reporting. Status report is below.

So - I've re-installed yet again (18-9), and I'm up and running. I've commented out the line in /etc/cron.d/fr24feed_updater in the hope that I don't end up doing this every day.

The only change I make to my installations is to add the --net argument to dump1090, via the settings page on the FR24 Feeder Status web interface, so I can use the map. It seems to me that if a vanilla install of fr24feed stops working following a scheduled update, then all is not well. I'm not a Linux guru although I can tinker a bit, but for a naïve user I'm afraid this still look broken to me. I don't think there's anything odd about my set-up - there's nothing else running on this Pi.
