Flightradar24 android app displays erratic landing information
Hi,
I'm a new user to the Flightradar24 Android app, and a couple of times I've noticed that the app displays seemingly very erratic landing behaviour when a selected flight is coming in to land. My mum, who's also a new user to the app says she's noticing this happening on most flights.
Flights coming into land suddenly 'jump' backwards along the route line and the altitude suddenly jumps up. For example a Flybe flight BE2996 from GLA (Glasgow) to MAN (Manchester) that she's been watching this evening was getting down to an altitude of around 800ft and suddenly jumping back along the route line and it's altitude jumping back up to 1400ft or so repeatedly, getting down to under 800ft and then jumping up to sometimes over 1600ft and then suddenly disappearing off the screen. I've just looked at the arrivals for MAN, and the flight's showing as having arrived, but when I tried to use 'Playback' to view the flight, it plays the flight but it stops a fair distance short of the airport.
This seems to be happening with most flights landing at MAN and EMA (East Midlands) at the moment. I found a thread from back in 2012 with a similar thing happening with flights going into LHR (London Heathrow) which said it could be something to do with a lack of radar coverage but didn't seem to have a definite explanation. My mum's driving me mad asking me what's happening and why it's behaving in this way. I'm not sure, and I can't find an explanation on the app's FAQ. Could someone tell me why this might be happening please so that I can stop the constant questions from her! ;) Thanks!

Proper script/command to get both feeds running after re-boot
I have a RPi feeding FR24 and FA. I had it working great after loading dump1090-fa and porting the data to FR24.
I had to reboot the RPi today, and FA came back online immediately, but not FR24.
Can anyone help me with a command to get FR24 to start up again, and better yet: What is the proper way to get them both to start after a re-boot or power failure?
Thanks in advance.

Program Crashes After About 30 Minutes
I just downloaded 1.0.19-14 from the web. I set it up and about 30 minutes the programs crashes. When I say it crashes it gives you that screen that the program has stopped working. Then it gives you the option of either closing it or checking for a solution online. This is on a Win 7 Pro 64 bit machine running a USB Stick. I did install the drivers and the program runs.

The Raspberry software (from FR24 IMG file) stops working all the time
I have used the IMG provided on the FR24 pages, and it works fine for a while, then just quits, and will never do anything useful again until I make a fresh install on the SD card. So maybe I should try what is described in this thread. But, since I am no expert on Linus I have to ask:
> "You don't need to connect any display , open putty soft & ssh on the IP."
What on earth does this mean...?? :-)
As I understand, you control the the Pi from another computer, but how do I do that from a Windows PC?
Thanks!

Noo NESDR SMArt or FlightAware Pro Stick
Noo told me that I should use the NESDR SMArt since size isn't important. I have a very old R820T or original version of T so I want something better. I was thinking about the pro stick. How much better would that be since it has an amplifier? Also, does it play nice with the Flightradar feeding software or do you have to do something to set it up correctly? Also, if I should get the Pro Stick should I also get the Band-Pass filter to go along with it? I'm not sure since I have the DPD productions indoor blade.
Thank-You,
Doug

Clone RasbPi Box
So I followed the directions I received in this forum, thank you so much BTW!, and I want to create a box for a friend. Can I clone mine and somehow change it to associate the feeders with their account? Like maybe, clone it, start it, then go to the claim page for FR24 and FlightAware and claim the feeders based on the new cloned box? Does that make sense? I am hoping I don't have to go through all of the steps all over again.
Special thanks to abcd567 for all his posts, directions, advice, and patience!
Thanks!

Please Help
Hello,
I am relatively new to this area and have been feeding data to FR24 for a few months. I initially ran my kit (Rasp Pi 3 modB, homemade collinear antenna and FlightAware DVB stick) in headless mode. Then recently, for some unknown reason, the system consistently refused to go online and thus I was forced to do a fresh install of Raspbian. As my Pi now has a monitor I then used terminal to sudo bash the rest and complete the job. All is done and now running except I have absolutely no idea how to open a window on my Pi in order to display the received decoded information as per the attached image. Any help in doing this would be greatly appreciated as now my Pi has a monitor, it might as well be showing something! :0) Many thanks in advance.

MLAT does not work
Hello,
I am new to flightradar24 and wanted to use my flight aware equipment to send data to flightradar.
I am using the raspberry 3 + Mode-S Beast board and I can not connect the MLAT.
Am I doing something wrong or is the Mode-S Beast not compatible with the flight radar 24?
Can anyone help me solve this?

VRS-Like Coverage Plot Right from Pi - No Windows/Mac Computer Running No VRS Running
If you dont want to run Windows/Mac computer to generate coverage map, you can still generate VRS-like coverage plot, as well as Charts right in RPi by running modeSMixer2 on your RPi.
STEP-1:
In Pi, create a new folder mm2, and move to new folder
STEP-2:
Go to following page:
http://xdeco.org/?page_id=30
At top you will find *ModeS**Deco**2* ❌. Ignore it, you dont need it.
Scroll down till you see *ModeS**Mixer**2* ✔. This is what you need.
Scroll down a little further till you see ARM sign
Image may be NSFW.
Clik here to view.![]()
On Windows/Mac Desktop/Laptop, download one of the following which matches your OS:
For Raspberry Pi 2/3 Jessie (also for [b]Pi24 image[/] and Piaware SD card image)
modesmixer2_rpi2-3_20170924.tgz
OR
For Raspberry Pi 2/3 Stretch
modesmixer2_rpi2-3_deb9_20170924.tgz
Note: If you have full version of Raspbian with GUI/Browser, you can directly download ModeSMixer2 file to Pi using Pi's Browser. You will need to connect a monitor, keyboard and mouse to Pi to do this. You will then not need Step-3 and Step-4, and after download, should go to Step-5 directly.
STEP-3:
On Windows / Mac computer, download and install file transfer App Filezilla.
https://filezilla-project.org/download.php?show_all=1
STEP-4:
Using Filezilla, upload from Windows/Mac computer, to Pi's folder mm2, the downloaded file
modesmixer2_rpi2-3_20170924.tgz
OR
modesmixer2_rpi2-3_deb9_20170924.tgz
ALTERNATIVE TO STEPS 1 to 4.
I have uploaded the modeSMixer2 files to my Dropbox account. From there, it can be downloaded directly on Pi using wget command as follows.
This method works for both Full and Lite versions of Raspbian, and does not need installing/using Filezilla, and does not need to connect monitor, keyboard and mouse to Pi.
.
STEP-5:
Unzip the downloaded file
STEP-6:
Inside folder mm2, create a new file `mm2.sh`
Add following text to blank file
In above code, replace xx.xxxx by your latitude, and yy.yyyy by your longitude
STEP-7:
Make file mm2.sh executeable
STEP-8:
Run the modeSMixer2
STEP-9:
Exit terminal
The script will keep running even after closing the terminal due to & disown in the above command. You can stop it by reboot, or by command sudo killall modesmixer2
STEP-10:
Go to page ip-of-pi:8787 . This will show Charts. To see map, Click item Map on menu bar.
On map, you will see range plot being built, like VRS.
On map, the MLAT planes are shown green, and ADS-B planes are shown white.

Flight numbers change mid flight
Google's Project Loon launched three ballons from their base in Winnemucca, Nevada on January 29, 2018. At 01:42 balloons HBAL 105, 107 and 106 were tracking southeast from the launch site. At 02:36 balloon 105 changed to 147. The registration of N261LB remained the same in the records for 105 and 147 but the Mode S-Code for 105, which was A283B0, changed to A2438E for flight number 147. By 03:06 the other two, 107 and 106 changed their flight numbers to 148 and 149. Was that change done by Google while the balloons were in flight or could that be an issues with Flightradar 24? Thanks!

Raspberry Pi running but not feeding
I am trying to feed with a Raspberry Pi and DVT stick, which has been working for about the last two years.
It stopped feeding about a month ago and I came to the conclusion that the memory card had failed so I fitted a new sd card and re-installed everything. Now the system appears to be running, but it is not feeding FR24.
I should point out that I don't fully understand what I am doing with a Pi, but having read and followed some of the posts on this forum I managed to get it running. It is running, but according to FR24, I am not online. I ran the fr24feed-status command and the following messages came up:
OK. FR24 Feeder/decoder process running
OK. FR24 Stats timestamp: time and date
OK. FR24 Link: connected (TCP).
OK. FR24 Radar: T-EGGP12 (my radar ID)
OK. FR24 tracked AC.
FAIL Receiver: down...failed!
FAIL FR24 MLAT: not running ... failed!
Can anybody tell me what I need to do to breath life back into my feed please?

I should point out that I don't fully understand what I am doing with a Pi, but having read and followed some of the posts on this forum I managed to get it running. It is running, but according to FR24, I am not online. I ran the fr24feed-status command and the following messages came up:
OK. FR24 Feeder/decoder process running
OK. FR24 Stats timestamp: time and date
OK. FR24 Link: connected (TCP).
OK. FR24 Radar: T-EGGP12 (my radar ID)
OK. FR24 tracked AC.
FAIL Receiver: down...failed!
FAIL FR24 MLAT: not running ... failed!
Can anybody tell me what I need to do to breath life back into my feed please?
