AcarsDeco2 installation and setup enquire

Hi,

I am very interested in ACARS and would like to install the AcarsDeco2 - 3 channel RTLSDR ACARS decoder, downloaded the zip file and extracted in to acarsdeco2 folder on the D drive I then clicked on the application .bat file to run the software but nothing happens. I cannot run the software, it just quit and I don't know why.
You should know that I am not a computer geek at all.

I know that it's a command-line application, computer program designed to be used from text interface, and it supports direct input from a TRL2832U dongle.

Please let me know how to install it on Windows 7 in most easiest way possible or provide me with "step by step" installation manual or try to install it by yourself on my PC by Teamviewer session.

Anybody in Stockholm that could come help me with setting up my Raspberry PI. I had it working for 2-3 years, but it stopped working i January. I have tried to do it through guides etc., but I not that into coding/Raspberry PI.

LCD display for Raspberry PI

I'm trying to add a 3.5" LCD display to my FR24 data feeder. I want to get a status screen going to indicate that its working correctly. I had to install a desktop version of Raspian to get the LCD working but now i don't know what to run to get the best status on a 3.5" screen. Has anyone done this before?

Bad Gateway errors (502)

Is anyone else in Sydney or surrounds finding this error on the webpage. I've been uploading for about 2 and a half hours and have been getting them continually since startup. Seems to occur when returning to a previously opened page or when opening a page either on FF or Chrome browsers.

I'm guessing it's a server issue but as usual wonder if I've got a problem here.

Raspberry PI3 Reducing Network Performance

For the last few days I've experienced a general network performance reduction. Pages take much longer to load, sometimes failing to load and requiring a refresh etc.

My desktop PC is Ethernet connected, and the issue occurs here and on Wi-Fi devices.

When I run Broadband diagnostics, Jitter, PING, and download/upload speeds are all as I'd expect. ( 30ms, 3ms and 200mb/13mb)

I've isolated the issue to only occurring when I have my Raspberry PI3 connected and acting as a feeder (That's all it's used for) which is Wi-Fi connected.

I've been running a Broadband Quality monitor since it started to happen. I have attached a link to the results here: https://www.thinkbroadband.com/broad...e38-04-03-2018

It's quite self explanatory, however one thing to note is that the area between 9pm - 10pm (where there is little to no red/packet loss) is when I had my PI switched off to testing. This was also the time when the network performed as it should have. The BQM runs to the Router, not my PI or Desktop PC etc. It requires the router to be configured to respond to ping requests on its WAN/Internet port, which it has.

The BQM seems to suggest that the PI is having a considerable packet loss if I've read it correctly.


Does anyone have any ideas as to what the issue could be?

Short Range Performance

Hi All,

I hope this is the right place. Please feel free to point me towards others that might have faced similar issues.

Setup:
Windows 10
dump1090 v1.10.3010.14
monitoring traffic with PlanePlotter

Variation A:
FA 1090Mhz aerial + 5m cable
FA filter
FA Pro Stick

Variation B:
dvb-t RTL dongle
standard dvb-t aerial

I was at Luton today to get some ADS-B data. As I am not really interested in long range, but more interested in runway and ground coverage, I thought it would be great to place my kit near the tower.
Interestingly when I used Variation A, I had great long distance coverage, all the way to the north of France. Flights dropped out at about 500ft above ground and I had rarely any AC on ground.

When I used Variation B, however, I lost most of my long distance range and picked up more AC on ground.

Do you have any idea why this would happen?
Is it a hardware issue with the dongle/aerial/ filter?
Is it a setting in dump1090/planeplotter?

My initial idea was that dump1090 might have been overwhelmed by the amount of flights it had picked up and then prefereably only reports the flights further away. Another thought was that the signal of AC so close might be too strong for the aerial, so the cheaper areal, due to its loss actually performs better in that environment.

However, when I did something similar at Bristol I did not face those issues and had sufficient ground coverage.

Hope someone has an idea and can help.

No planes tracked!

Hi,

I have fr24feed running and when i type fr24feed-status it shows:
Code:
[ ok ] FR24 Feeder/Decoder Process: running.

[ ok ] FR24 Link: connected [TCP].
[ ok ] FR24 Radar: T-EKCC35.
[ ok ] FR24 Tracked AC:.
[ ok ] Receiver: connected (0 MSGS/0 SYNC).
[ ok ] FR24 MLAT: ok [UDP].
[ ok ] FR24 MLAT AC seen: 0.
But no planes are tracked, why?

Btw. I live approx. 15 km from Copenhagen Airport so there are a lot of planes in the air here.

Also when I open IP/dump1090/gmap.html it is centered in suthern europe, why is that?

Hope You can help me get going. If You need any other info just let me know.

Changed location - same name?

Recently I have moved my RaspberryPi setup from one location, close to one airport (KPHF), to another location, close to another airport (KORF).
Well, the name of the radar/feeder was assigned initially as "T-KPHF7" probably because I was close to KPHF.
Now, should I try to get another "name" relevant to the new location by getting a new sharing key? Or it doesn't matter?

RTL-SDR

I have just received an RTL-SDR dongle from jetvision, having started with the jetvision DVB-T dongle. When I swap the dongles in my Rpi it the feed progresively stops until everything is in red and not receiving. I am wondering if I need to do a fresh install or if swapping dongles is an option

Password protect 8754 page

Hi all,

I would like to password protect the 8754 page of my Raspberry Pi, so that others on the same network will not be able to change any of the settings. I do not have the option to assign static IP addresses to my PC (network handled by external party) - thus IP tables will not do the trick.

Is there a way to password protect the page?

Stats Sharing button

Frequently, but not always, I find when visiting my stats page the "Stats Sharing" button has been 'turned off' and has to be reset to 'on'. Less frequently, it takes a number of attempts and page refreshes to get the button to work. Don't know if its a bug with the FR24 web page or just a browser issue.

PI24 Status Screen

In the PI24 image for RPi, the status screen with the Flightrader24 graphic that comes up at the end times out after a few minutes. Does anyone know where that status is running? I have tried disabling console and xserver timeouts to no avail. I have a small LCD panel attached and I want the status screen to be up all the time.

From time to time I update my Raspberry Pi with "sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get upgrade".

No problem for several years, but this time fr24feed needs to be upgraded. However this fails, and here is what happens:
