cantenna build-- good results!

Good morning all. Last Thursday I knocked together a cantenna to test. Since I don't have an antennalyzer for anything above the 2m amateur band I just cut to the specs given on a post found here. I put it up yesterday while visiting my folks. I attached the cantenna on the collapsible fishing pole I use for my mast and then placed it on the back deck, which faces southeast. Their home sits on the bay so from sea level to the top of the antenna it was up about 24 feet. I had it online for about 4 hours and maximum distance was 211nm, 905 aircraft seen, 33,741 positions reported and 108,045 hits reported. I can't wait to see the results over a 24hr period.

Raspian OS on Asus eee

Dear all,
I am a fr24 feeder since few years. I have been feeding the system via windows, when my computer was on till now. I want to create a stand alone solution using an old Asus eee box, instead of buying a raspberry pi. I've installed raspian OS on this small computer and try to configure the USB dongle installing the fr24feed. I try to install the repo via command line
PHP Code:

sudo bash -"$(wget -O - #####repo-feed.flightradar24.com/install_fr24_rpi.sh)"

but it seems it cannot find the fr24feed software. So I downloaded the .tgz package and I did uncompressed it, but if I double click on the fr24feed the command line open up and close again very fast that I cannot see what's going on. Someone can help me? Thanks a lot in advance

Easiest way to work out what ATC frequency a flight is on?

Hi there,

I wanted to step up my efforts when following 7700's and wondered if there's any Google Map or website that shows what ATC channel a flight will be on? Especially when it's a channel that's available on LiveATC.net.

I guess the information would be hard to collate, but it would be amazing. Any tips or hints you can send my way?

Show Route still doesn't work in Playback

In Playback mode you can hammer away on the "Show Route" button but it does nothing yet it works perfectly for the same aircraft in Live View.

e.g. https://www.flightradar24.com/2018-1.../H25B/1ed7cea4

Originated at Billund but you have to click-and-scroll to follow the flight track back to determine that. You can pick any of the other aircraft and see the same problem.

BUG? Communication Towers shown as aircrafts?

Dear Ladies and Gentlemen,
I recently noticed a strange behavior in the south western region of Germany:
There are communication towers which seem to send out some sort of ADS-B message and therefore appearing on the Flightradar map. Not that this is strange enough, they also appear in form of an airplane symbol, which is highly confusing. So, I would suggest the following features:

- Do not show communication towers on the map (either disable them at all [I don't think anyone is interested in those] or add them as a separate display option [like weather overlays etc.])
- If you decide to show the towers on the map, then please adjust the symbol accordingly so they do no longer appear as an aircraft

Here you see the current situation:

cantenna vs mag. mount

This was an eye-opener for me. Today I erected the cantenna attached to the 20' collapsable fishing pole along side the creek at the marina where I work. It was up about maybe 19 feet above sea level.....some trees in the way (east/west). The other antenna, which was only 15 feet away is a 1/4 wave mag mount attached to the galvanized fence that surrounds the marina pool...also near the creek. It was up about maybe 8 feet above sea level and it too had trees east/west of the antennas location. I don't have an antenna analyzer for the frequencies I'm testing so I'm relying on the measurements from the forum. Well, the fence mounted antenna had a better maximum distance report. This wasn't a real controlled type of test but it still was interesting.

Maximum distance dropped on my data sharing page

Hi to all!
During the last days, especially today, the maximum distance in every part of the compass dropped significantly.
Dump1090 is working nice but looks like FR24 is not receiving correctly all the positions shared or something...
The command fr24feed-status shows everything on [OK]
Anyone experiencing the same issue?
Cheers!

Polar Plot - Distances

Folks,

Don't quite understand the Polar Plot chart.

It says my maximum distance is 43NM but if I select >200 it shows one signal (or plane or hit), similarly if I select 200 it again shows 1

What is it referring to if it says my maximum distance is 43NM?

Radio receivers in Thailand, license or not

Hi,

I did recently move to Thailand.
I'm working on a ADS-B setup with FR24 feeder.

Somebody told me that you must have a license from Thai Transport Ministery just for owning a "Radio Communication Receiver" which can listen to frequencies outside public radio/TV bands.

Someone in Thiland who knows what is required?. Just putting up an 1090 antenna on the roof might have the police come wondering whats going on....

Is it possible to extract the AMDAR data contained in the ACARS? Is there a software capable of doing that?

Hi Guys;
I am currently installing my SBS-1 onto a new machine but I cannot find a file that produces these marker/heading lines as seen in the pic below. Can anyone point me to where I could download the file from the net?

raspberry pi inconsistent upload

Hi guys!

I've been feeding to FR for quite some time via a raspberry pi. recently I discovered a weird pattern in the data upload. I'll attach a screenshot from the app. It looks like the feeding starts and stops randomly...

I switched from Wifi to Ethernet connection and the problem dissapeared for about three weeks. But after a week or so of downtime of my pi and router the same problem is back again - via the ethernet connection.

Any ideas about this would be greatly appreciated! What could be the cause for this?

Kind Regards! lamoe

Receiver is online but not sending any data

Receiver is online but not sending any data (no aircraft in coverage or problem with antenna) - have found out this error today. Used to work just fine.

I reconfigured the settings and updated the system but no luck so far. I'm using DVT-B USB stick (WINGONEER Digitale USB 2.0 DVB-T SDR+DAB+FM RTL2832U+R820T2).

Website traffic updates stalling over New York/USA

Hi FR24, Aircraft animation in the NY area at certain times of day do not move freely but start and stop at 1 sec intervals, i.e. all the aircrafts are moving then stop for 1 sec then move again. I monitor various airports but this only happens in NYC radar . Is their a fix for this aircraft animation in NYC radar coverage?
Thanks
