How do I disable this annoying feature?
When I click on the map to close an airplane tracking I have open I get this FIR box.
When I click on the map just to select the window (when another program/window was the active one), I then get this box.
Basically just an annoying feature.

set it up and i think its working

Just curious as to how long it takes before you receive the emails and stuff. I still have not received any emails and everything seems to be working fine . . .

Beginner - Setup successfully on PIAWare, but no aircrafts

Hi all

i'm a beginner with tracking and feeding. Today i've received my ordered bundle with a Raspberry 3 B with power supply, case and cables, the Flightaware Pro Plus stick and an indoor antenna.
I've installed the latest PIAware image and the device is running fine with Flightaware, i am deeply impressed about the range of the indoor antenna behind a window on upper floor.

Now i've installed additionally the FR24 Feeder based on the instructions here in the forum. Everything seem fine, but the amount of Aircrafts is "0" and no data are uploaded to FR24

Output of Status:
pi@piaware:~ $ sudo fr24feed-status
[ ok ] FR24 Feeder/Decoder Process: running.
[ ok ] FR24 Stats Timestamp: 2019-07-18 19:04:14.
[ ok ] FR24 Link: connected [UDP].
[ ok ] FR24 Radar: T-EDFH53.
[ ok ] FR24 Tracked AC:.
[ ok ] Receiver: connected (0 MSGS/ SYNC).
[FAIL] FR24 MLAT: not running ... failed!

Attached also the config screen of the web interface. I've selected ModeS Beast (TCP) as instructed.

Any ideas how to fix that would be appreciated.

Trying to configure MicroADSB on Pi24

Hi all
I am trying to migrate to Pi24, I have read a lot of posts here but most of it is too technical.
I have the account set up but not seeing any aircraft being tracked.
I am wondering if I need to use Dump1090 with my receiver. One forum post here says that sometimes the MicroADSB USB receiver is a DVB-T one.
My receiver is this one from microadsb.com
https://www.dropbox.com/s/mma6gkb2l0...eiver.jpg?dl=0

The status page for my pi24 install is this
https://www.dropbox.com/s/df3pbifdbu...tatus.jpg?dl=0

The settings page is
https://www.dropbox.com/s/y2k8ga987c...tings.jpg?dl=0

The command line in Pi24 has
https://www.dropbox.com/s/fcgqb7lnow...0Pi24.jpg?dl=0

When I was using this receiver in Plane Plotter it was set to an AVR receiver. In Pi24 I ahve tried the MicroADSB option first then AVR, I could be doing something wrong but neither of those seemed to work.
Any help would be appreciated

feeding and listening

Hello all,

as all members here I am feeding to several tracking sites.

I would like to extend the hobby by listening to air traffic as well. Are members here that do the same. If yes, please share what scanner(s) you are using. I am thin king of buying desktop base station. At the moment I am struggling to chose between Whisler or Uniden.
Any input is highly appreciated.

My good sir(s),

Of this list,
How to Install dump1090-mutability_1.15~dev on RPi
Thread Sticky: Feed options for depreciated windows feeder
PI24: Replace dump1090 v1.14 -> pre-build package of dump1090 v1.15
Raspberry Pi:How To Install Raspian OS + Dump1090 + FR24 Data Feeder
2019 - PI24 (Image) QuickStart Guide

Do you think it may be an advantage to consolidate some of these individuals as there is some cross-over. Or should we do a trim down. (or break them down) to more specific roles depending on user need say..
"Install x " (guide only) + "Install-X Help"
Install multiple (guide only) + Install-multiple help
Or
Pre-Buster Install
Stretch/Wheezy (if not current on those after buster changes) Install (if people dont want to upgrade)

You could then do a separate maps and addon type one on its own that all options could reference to once setup rather than reference them in each like some are currently.

I just note that there are some similarities between some of the original updates/edits. And others that are now defunct or not updated the same as the first couple with the script changes and buster etc playing a part. And users seem to be scared to ask (probably my fault) but instead of follow our step by steps, mix-and-match different scenarios and often get in trouble.

And I just wonder if too many options is getting a bit much now

Obviously the Pi24 is a good guide for those wanting to start out. It over-rides the website with a 1 stop shop solution. And to this date is still valid (until they change the image on us)
But all the others are pretty code/SSH intensive depending on user needs.

Thread Sticky: Feed options for depreciated windows feeder is also valid for the $0 approach (although most people seem to have given up now with lack of SBS read)

I do wonder if a 'how to get the base going' sort of one left as that. And a separate addon-s and features type group may then give people the option to get things going and sit on it for a while before diving in too deep and hitting rocks would be better to a newbie.

With the Buster variants, and tidying up of the How to Install dump1090-mutability_1.15~dev on RPi recently it looks as if Some of the same instructions appear to fall in the Raspberry Pi:How To Install Raspian OS + Dump1090 + FR24 Data Feeder?

Without making his head too big, wiedehopfs' fairly solid bash that does checks before changes, and as a team we've been able to get it to a point where it seems to fix quite a few of the issues struck that most users are reporting (with some massaging depending on which guide was read, errors struck but not reported or how old the commands they ran were to break it..) And although its 'the competition' as it were, lets face it. It's a lot simpler than supporting 1.14 + 1.15 + wheezy + buster + non Pi if half the optional upgrades are included.

Thoughts?

If we were go down that track, I wouldn't make a new one myself. As you won't have edit rights (unless I made the first post a what it covers breif, and then you do post 2 on..) Moving/splitting the current ones with the associated deleted 'fixed now- thanks!' type posts is a bit hard too.

I would like to see the planes my receiver has picked up being identified on the map so I can visualy see what range de receiver has. Not sure whether that is possible.
Thanks!

Hello everybody! :)

This is my first thread in this forum. I would like to first excuse me if I am posting this in the wrong part of the forum or even completely wrong here. I am currently on vacation and have only a phone with me.
I have a question about the website MyFlightradar24 where you can log all your flights.
You can connect your MyFlightradar24 account with your twitter account.
I did this and logged a flight one day before it happens. I ticked the box which says that MyFlightradar24 posts updates (when im in air, etc..) about my flight on my twitter account. But during the flight nothing happened on my twitter account. Is this a mistake on my site or is this feature not avaliable yet? I didn't find a lot of information about MyFlightradar24 so I don't actually know if this is the right place to ask for this. It would be great if anybody can hep me with that!

Thank you and good night from Europe,
HerrMrSir :)

Flightradar24 — how it works?

I've found this article from a guy on APKNite
habr . com/en/post/440596/ (sorry for not be able to post link)
I didn't know this information was being broadcasted this way. I thought the location information had to be bought from the airlines, but it seems I was wrong.
And I have a question, how does flightradar cover the oceans?
Thanks in advance!

Feeding to FR24 and ALSO to Virtualradar?

$

Hi All,

I have just connected a USB dongle receiver to a Raspberry Pi 3, downloaded/installed the FR24 image and started feeding data to FR24. No problems here, all is well - and I even had the "Business" upgrade. Sweet.

Before this, I used to have the USB stick receiver directly connected to my (Windows) computer and was running RTL1090 + VirtualRadar and would see all the local traffic near my home, as received by my own Rx. This went on for well over a year, until I got he Raspberry and started feeding to FR24 a few days ago.

So here is the question (I did search, promise): Is it possible to continue feeding FR24 with the USB stick Rx connected to the Raspberry and at the same time see my own traffic (i.e, as received by my Rx) on my computer using VirtualRadar?

When the Rx was directly connected to the computer via USB I would first run RTL1090 and then start VirtualRadar, then click in the "127.0.0.1" link on that program, which opened a web browser with map. Am I correct in my assumption that it is possible to point Virtualradar not to 127.0.0.1, but rather to the PI's network address and fetch the data from there, while the Raspberry continues to feed to FR24? if so, can someone please point me to the right direction? I did try a few different setting in VirtuaRadar's Tools > Options page, but I don't really know what should be set.

As it is, VirtualRadar only shows the map (no aircraft) while the Raspberry is happily sending away data to FR24.

Any info would be greatly appreciated.

TIA,
Bruno

Go a trip coming up with a plane with onboard Wi-Fi across a bunch of ocean. My laptop is a Linux laptop, is there anything special I need to do to get the feeder working correctly while on the plane? Given that I am moving I will turn MLAT off.

How about this for an idea ?

Guy's, it still takes a university degree to figure out Pi and getting the software to work. Thanks to 'Oblivian' and 'abcd567' for your help in the past, appreciated, all is working OK.

It's a minefield, it's complex, so how about one of you guy's programme an SD card to handle Raspberry Pi and sell them?

More than willing to pop quite a few dollars into your PayPal or other accounts for the service. This would probably eliminate 95% of forum traffic, save you time as well.

Browser Connections to RPi Stopped Working

The browser connections to my RPi stopped working. The connection to <host name>:8754 still works but the connection to <host name>/dump1090/gmap.html fails with a 404 error. The same happens to the graphs1090 page. If I use the ip address instead of the host name the results are the same. The Rpi is still feeding data to multiple sites without any issues. Is there a way to diagnose and fix the problem? I'm a total Raspbian noob.
