Can i swap the site around??
What i mean is, I live in Colnbrook, Slough and i'm on the Flightpath for Heathrow Arrivals & Departures, depending on the time of day....however the website shows the reservoirs to the left and then the runway to the right, but is there a way to do a mirror image? because where i live the Airport is to my Left and the reservoirs are to my my right..
I hope that makes sense

Playback slider broken again
You can no longer click on the playback slider to adjust the time. Now you can only move the time by clicking on the tiny yellow dot and dragging the slider. Completely impossible to do on a laptop mouse pad. Also makes the UI arrow keys either end of the slider now completely useless because when you press them the yellow dot disappears off the end of the screen.
Also why was the timer adjusted from 5 minute segments to 15 minute segments at maximum zoom? When it was 5 minute segments you could easily identify accurate arrival and departure times or times over a particular point simply by using the distance between the segments to work it out. Now you can't do that with the 15 minute segments because the gap is too big with no reference points.

Dump1090-mutability JSON files
I have recently switched from using windows to a Raspberry Pi 3B+. Although I am no stranger to LINUX/UNIX, I am new to the RPI but I followed the helpful guide on here about installing DUMP1090-mutabilty and FR24Feed and everything is working fine.
I noticed that there is more activity on the SD card than I had expected as the LED flashes quite a lot. Obviously, some of this is down to the core O/S but I wondered whether there was data being written to the card that wasn't needed for my configuration.
One thing I found was the JSON files, which are created by DUMP1090-Mutability. I wondered if these are really needed and what the implications of having them were in terms of SD Card longevity.

all planes are avoiding Sudanese airspace
I can see that no planes are for the moment crossing into Sudanese airspace. All flights coming from Europe and heading to East Africa were diverted from Egypt on towards the Red Sea, in order to cross over Eritrea and Ethiopia into Kenya and Tanzania. One flight, DLH590, FRA-NBO even returned from over the Red Sea towards Cairo.

Home Brew Antenna
I have often wondered about making or buying a 'better' antenna and putting it outside but because of where I live, I don't know whether it would make much difference. My house is in the middle of a housing estate near the top of a hill and although there's a clear view of the sky to the North, there are houses slightly higher than mine that partly obscure our view of the sky to the South.
I made a few antennas of different designs and spent ages tweaking and moving them around in the loft to get the best signal. The one I am currently using is a rather crude homemade ground plane type, which sits in the centre line of the roof right up under the ridge tiles.
I currently get an average of about 80 NM and, unfortunately, very little of that is from lower than about 10000 feet in any direction.
For mobile use, I use an equally crude homemade full wave dipole, which I plug straight into another tv stick.
What seems odd to me is that, if I sit in my bedroom with my laptop with the dipole plugged into the tv stick I get only slightly fewer planes than the RPI gets with the loft antenna. However, when I replaced the dipole type that was originally in the loft with the ground plane one, the difference was like night and day.
Anyone have any thoughts about what I can do to improve things (apart from moving)?

Recent instability of dump1090-fa + FR24
Over the past two weeks, my setup of using dump1090-fa to feed FR24 has become very unstable. Before that it would run for weeks without a problem. But now, my dump1090-fa data stream seems to drop multiple times per day (showing no aircraft on the PiAware SkyView map), and then of course my FR24 stats page shows no data coming in.
Typically restarting the dump1090-fa process (first) and then the FR24 feed (second) fixes the problem. (but I'm guessing that restarting dump1090-fa is actually fixing it, and restarting FR24 feed is probably not necessary)
When this problem showed up, I ran sudo apt-get update and sudo apt-get upgrade just to make sure I have the latest of everything, and that didn't fix the problem.
Any ideas how to debug why my dump1090-fa stream seems to be dropping with the SkyView map then going blank? Could this be some type of data flow problem off my USB stick (failing/defective stick maybe?) that is then tripping up the dump1090-fa stream?
Any tips would be appreciated....
Thanks, John

Two instances of FR24feed on the same linux box?
After using the Windows feeder for several years, I have successfully migrated to feeding using the Linux/generic/i686/1.0.18-5 feeder. Many thanks to users abcd567 and others for the easy to follow instructions. I am also grateful that it was much less 'painful' than I anticipated.
While leaving that feed running as it is, I want to create a new feed to track an experimental antenna installation, without disturbing the original. Obviously the new feed will require a separate sharing key and a separate installation of the feeder software.
Is it possible/practical to run two instances of the FR24feed software on the same Linux box? This would be JUST the feeder, since the decoding would be handled by dump1090 running on a separate box and sent over the network. The two instances would each need to be using their own configuration files and ports.
So my question isn't how to feed data to multiple tracking sites, but rather how to run multiple instances of FR24feed on one Linux box?
Thanks

Want to feed data
Hello:
I want to provide data to FR24. I'm using FlightAware's pre-built package. I have attempted to follow the instructions from the information on the FR24 website but it says it can't find my Pi. I am unable to "SSH" either. On PuTTY I keep getting an error message that says "Network Error Connection Refused"
My Pi is connected directly to my router via ethernet cable.
I have checked FlightAware and I do have a successful feed there with my Pi.

BUG: receiver-type avr-tcp and auto-configuration not working.
It seems using receiver-type=avr-tcp does not work.
When using auto-configuration by the install script the receiver-type is set to avr-tcp and host to 127.0.0.1:30002
This doesn't work because the config option receiver-type=avr-tcp seems to be no longer working.
It seems the option host is just ignored when using avr-tcp:
The solution for now is to chose receiver-type=beast-tcp with host=127.0.0.1:30005
(at least for users running dump1090-fa or dump1090-mutability)
It seems this error doesn't always occur, i'm not quite sure what triggers the problem.
Code:
fr24feed --version
1.0.23-8
This doesn't work because the config option receiver-type=avr-tcp seems to be no longer working.

Aircraft itinerary flight times
Disclaimer: I have read the rules and followed them, I searched the forum for information on this topic and I have not been able to find anything, which in itself I found unusual because I think this is an important subject.
Here is the question: why is it that SOMETIMES, when looking at the flight history for a specific aircraft, the flight departure/arrival times are shown in local time (the expected values since that's how flight schedules are normally shown when booking flights, for example) and SOMETIMES the flight departure/arrival times are shown in UTC? Of course, there is no indication on the web page which way the flight times are displayed so you always have to be weary and double check before trying to use the information.
Anyone else having this kind of problem?

Feeders not being displayed
If there was a change in the feeder's displays, I wasn't advised of it. I happened to look at which antenna an aircraft in my vicinity was feeding to, and all I see, no matter which aircraft I select, is the ARTCC controlling it. So, what happened?

QF93 MEL-LAX schedule
New to this part of FR24 - apologies if info format is not ideal.
Ref Qantas QF93 MEL-LAX scheduled 09.00 dep and 06.30 arrival.
for 14 to 17 April it appears imported schedule data for these dates incorrectly indicates late arrivals.
eg 17 April pushed back at MEL at 9.07 (scheduled departure 09.00) and took off at 9.38
In flight as I type and FR24 suggests LAX arrival 6.18 compared to scheduled 5.19, therefore one hour late, but it will actually arrive 10 minutes early.

Receiver Status offline.
Hiho.
I've just installed the FR24 Image on my Raspberry Pi 2. I'm using the jetvision Stick with the ADS-B Antenna that is linked on the Flightradar - build-your-own website.
I first thought everything is working. The Raspberry is booting correctly, I could activate the receiver an die Raspberry has connected properly:

But there is one last problem.
The Feeder Status is showing offline:
pic2.jpg
I've already rebooted the Raspberry Pi, he is still connected as shown on the first picture but the offline status won't change. (And the last seen Date won't change too)
Are there any ports that I have to open in my Router Firewall? If so can anyone tell me which one? Or is there another problem?
If you need more Informations please let me know.
Sorry for my bad english.
Thank You!

Modded Gain Optimization Script With Distance
ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS:
Original author of optimization script: BartJr
Enhancement by: lignumaqua
(Orginal flightaware link is broken, so not added)
Copied instructions from abcd567's post
I wanted way to optimize my setup (settings) for furthest plane distance, so I modded the orginal gain optimization script so it would measure the plane distance also.
The procedure is almost the same as with the original script.
PROCEDURE:
(1) Install Python:
sudo apt-get install python
(2) Install Geopy module:
sudo pip install geopy
(3) Create a new file optimize-gain-mut.py
sudo nano optimize-gain-mut.py
(4) Copy paste code below in the new blank file and set your antenna location (lat, lon) (the var coords_antenna= in the top of the script)
and save file (Ctrl+o) and close file (Ctrl+x)
(5) Make file executable
sudo chmod +x optimize-gain-mut.py
(6) Start test
sudo ./optimize-gain-mut.py
It is a very lengthy test. Be patient.
Results will be displayed after test is completed.
Code below to be copy-pasted in blank file "optimize-gain-mut.py".
It requires dump1090-mutability ver 1.15~dev installed on Pi
When the test is run, it will start giving output, one line at a time then pause, then next line then pause and so on.
It is a very lengthy test. Be patient.
Results will be displayed after test is completed.
Example output:
test 1 of 6
